My xi5 i think kicked the bucket, not holding location. I changed out to an ipilot but id like to put this xi5 on one of my other boats. Anyone around thibodaux work on these? Ideally id like to try to fix it myself but this may or may not be beyond my realm

Good Luck
As they age it’s hard to justify the spend on repairs, double that for MG since they were folded into simrad.
Call Superior in Laffy, they should be able to tell you if it’s even worth the spend.

No
Garmin has their own TM (Kraken)
Recon/Simrad pairs with lowrance
Minn Kota Humminbird
PP move any?
It’s a great time for tech and TM is you want to spend the coin. Anything over five years will probably need donors to be repaired going forward if you can find a wrench.

Those things were shite they day they were made. Unfixable now. MG never grasped that tech. My buddies graveyard of trolling motors is full of those

Up until maybe 5-6 years ago I was still getting parts for my Johnson troll motor. Thing was a 95 model and kicked butt!

Your tm had a longer production run and probably wasn’t in saltwater?
MG x series have been problematic since they dropped. Joke was buy two so in six months you would have a backup. Lower unit water intrusion #1 issue followed by boards.

I had a MG that had the steering motor go out during COViD. It was under warranty. Took over a year to get the parts.

Renovations Hardware in Cut Off works on them. I brought my xi3 to there and my brother in law brought his minn kota riptide. They fixed them both

Friend of mine has a Brute on a 94 Procraft. Thing burnt up chasing schoolies on Sam Rayburn. Took it to several places in La. and Ms. All told him time to buy new. Brought it to my house and we took it apart and found the burnt wires. Hooked it up to a battery and got it working on one speed, no reverse.

are good options. Had to use Riptide Repair years back when the 80lb Riptide (junk) went out. To their credit they were quick and reasonably priced.

quote:It's pretty bad for those with scope on the shaft. None of the newer ones are cable steer unless Minn Kota still has that modified system. I will have to baby mine. I really should get a back up now while some still may exist.
