Tougher policing of what?
Interesting...
Hmmm
General trend... All of which decrease crime... why 2025 such a strong drop...
Wow... its almost as if he's told himself its still 2024 and he needs to make up things for the Biden admin... if cutting government jobs in 2025 cut crime, maybe DOGE needs a round 2.
No one seems to think arresting and deporting illegals with criminal records somehow dropped the murder rate to a decades low.

What’s Behind the Historic Drop in U.S. Crime
Explanations for the fall range from tougher policing to societal changes like less alcohol consumption and more time spent alone
Tougher policing of what?

Last year, homicide rates slid below 2015 levels to the lowest rate in a decade in more than half of 58 cities tracked by the Major Cities Chiefs Association.
Steep drop-offs extended to cities that still have some of the country’s highest per capita homicide levels. From 2020 to 2025, the homicide rate plunged 59% in Baltimore, 43% in St. Louis and 39% in New Orleans. Honolulu, El Paso and Austin, Texas, were the only cities among the 58 where homicide rates rose for the period.

Rafael Mangual, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank, attributes falling crime in the U.S. partly to people’s changing behavior, including diminished alcohol use.

In terms of policy, he emphasized a rightward shift. “There has been a general trend toward more arrests, more enforcement, more stops, higher rates of prosecution and obviously an increase in the prison population,” he said.

To veteran researcher John Roman, the crime reduction is a national story with a handful of broad explanations. He cited a return to normal routines following the pandemic, and an easing of volatility in illicit drug markets post-Covid. In addition, he credited the influx of billions of dollars in federal pandemic aid that restored more than one million local government jobs.

It has nothing to do with a pretty secured border and ICE rounding up illegal aliens, right?

strange this thread did not attract the usual flurry of TDS posts

The MSM will remain willfully obtuse when it comes to ever pointing a finger at their sacred cow of unfettered mass migration.

I get the posts from ICE/DHS where they show who they are catching and deporting. A lot of these guys are literally one man crime waves.

The homicide rate is down due to criminals not selling drugs as much anymore. To easy to get caught and to easy to detect for the cops. They have wised up and move to sex trafficking people. Much more difficult to get caught, due to several agencies not enforcing and putting a big emphasis on prostitution.

Part of it is also the civil rights division of the DOJ fighting to remove that cumbersome designation they had imposed on cities to basically stop policing anyone of color without double triple forms filled out and rigorous reviews.
I listened to a podcast with the woman in charge, it costs the cities a fortune and a billion dollar cottage industry has sprouted with committees within the police dept/cities, overseers of the program, and an army of consultants to show them how to implement and oversee it.
It will save the city millions to get rid of it......and the city of Minneapolis sued the DOJ to continue with the punishment

The media will never validate a Republican president. Never. It was true when Reagan was president and still true with Trump. Clearly this drop in crime is due to President Trump’s policies but the media will never report it.

Clearly ICE is a factor. Biggest factor this is major Blue cities faking crime data, partially in an effort to deter Trump from sending the NG their way!
