I paid off my auto loan and my score went down 35 points. Never late with a payment, nothing else changed on my credit report except $90 added to a credit card. No late payments on anything.

Doesn’t seem fair.

If you are going off Credit Karma, it’s wrong. Always lower for me

You always have to owe something in order to make your score go up

It's all a scam. I watch mine like a hawk and it goes down for no reason then slowly creeps back up. And it never matches what your score shows when they actually pull your credit.

Only plebeians care about credit scores.

Agreed, I bought a truck last Saturday, CC showed my score at 796, it was 845 when they ran it.

Very common. It’s because you now have less of a mix of credit.

It will rise back up relatively quickly (within the next 2 or 3 months).

A credit score is an "I love debt score." You will not be rewarded by the credit bureaus if you do not have any debt.

short term due to a closed loan. Take a deep breath, will go back to where it was prior.

Any system where the same company that sets your score also offers a service to raise your score is blatantly corrupt. Biggest scam of modern times.

That really is pretty shitty! Thing is, a change of that magnitude would likely not affect much.

I have had no car loan for a while and capital one just cancelled a credit card because I hadn’t used it in over two years. I wonder if that affects me.

Just checked and Wells says 850. But it literally hasn’t changed a point over the 6 months they show. So not sure that’s even real.

I’ve always thought credit scores were a scam.

Eta: the only category that is “very good” instead of “exceptional” is new credit applications. I can’t even remember the last time I applied for credick.

Probably a refi four years ago or so. Weird. Now I need to go make sure some Nigerian prince isn’t racking up debt in my name.

If your shot is paid, why you worried about borrowing money?

I’ve seen mine fluctuate 15 points in a month just from my Amex that never carries a balance over a month. Fico is mostly bullshite unless you’re below 680. That’s one of the few useful indicators of delinquency risk. But really anything higher is typically fine and just people getting games by financiers.
