A group of food stamp recipients is suing the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Five people filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the USDA over restrictions in their five states that ban recipients from buying sugary drinks, candy or prepared desserts.

The plaintiffs argue the Trump administration violated laws that authorize SNAP benefits and govern changes in policy.

The plaintiffs said the restrictions create confusion.[quote]The lawsuit also claims the USDA authorized states to limit the legal definition of “food” haphazardly without notice or input from the public.[quote) Why do I envision the people protesting this as wearing Bonnets and smoking Kool cigarettes

Snap is for basics, not luxuries. But it's been abused for so long, basics are now luxuries to many people.

A judge should declare that beggars can’t be choosers.

But I think we all know some POS judge will side with them and force a permanent injunction over this.

Imagine someone giving you money each month then telling you I’m gonna still give you the same amount each month but you can’t purchase some unhealthy food with it and you sue them.

It’s not your money!

We can thank the Big Processed Food lobby for destroying the program. It once started with Post Toasties, powdered milk, cheese, eggs, butter, peanut butter, flour, sugar and not a whole hell of a lot more other than can good staples. Kraft, Kelloggs, General Mills etc etc sank their teeth in and all hell broke loose.

You may want to read what you posted again. I don’t think that’s what you meant.

We pay for their junk food, then we pay for their diabetes and heart problems. They should get basic necessities only.

The law says that USDA can grant waivers upon request to exclude items from state programs.

These people can all go walk into oncoming traffic. All lobbyists should for that matter. How that shite ever became legal is beyond me. Legalized bribery is all that it is.

You’re making a mistake. You’re projecting normal, common sense thinking onto SNAP recipients. They don’t understand that type of thinking.

I'm not reading all that, but I'd bet my bottom dollar that somewhere in there they're using a medical excuse that they get low blood sugar and need the sugary foods to survive.
