Travel hint to those coming to central or southern Florida this summer.

When coming on I10 from the west, once you get east of Tallahassee. Use the Lloyd exit or US 19 exit south. Take US 19 d9wn thru Perry to Chiefland, then take ALT US 27 to Ocala. It will be a break from the rat race of I10 and I75. It is all 4 lane with only a couple of small towns to pass thru. You will enjoy the escape, believe this old trucker. Unfortunately you will get back in the rat race at Ocala.

I went off the beaten path one time in central FL and was shocked at how hilly it was. I thought I was in east TN for a minute

Alt 27 will also pass thru the beautiful horse farms west of Ocala. Plus a historic restaurant in Cross City. Cypress Inn restaurant, opened in 1928.

I'll give this a try soon, thanks!
Now, if only there were a good way to avoid I75 and the turnpike altogether when driving into Orlando...

Just north of Chiefland, there is an old truckstop that is now a restaurant. It still has the old wooden booths and in the back, there are still the old pay phone booths. Bett's Big T restaurant dates back to the early 50s. This old trucker had many meals there.

Seconded.
I never take i75. Plenty of beautiful springs along the way as well. We stopped at The BBQ Shack in Fanning Springs last time, and it was delicious.
I see you live in Marianna. We stopped into Florida Caverns State Park a couple of weekends ago on the way back home from Tallahassee. Didn't go into the cave, just hiked the trails. The trails are awesome. Lots of wildlife around there.

Would I miss Cafe Risqué? If so that’s a hard no from me
