A cyberattack allegedly linked to Iran-aligned hackers disrupted global operations at Stryker, a major U.S. medical technology company, leaving thousands of employees unable to access work systems and forcing a widespread shutdown of network-connected devices.

Stryker, headquartered in Portage, Michigan, is one of the world’s largest medical device manufacturers, producing surgical equipment, orthopedic implants and hospital technology used by healthcare systems globally. The company employs tens of thousands of workers worldwide and reported more than $25 billion in annual revenue, underscoring the scale of disruption caused by the attack.

Iran hacking group claiming responsibility for the attack:
Bloomberg article so I can't link
quote:
An Iran-linked hacking group claimed responsibility Wednesday for a sweeping cyberattack on US medical technology giant Stryker, saying it had wiped more than 200,000 systems and extracted 50 terabytes of data in retaliation for military strikes on Iran.
"Our major cyber operation has been executed with complete success," Handala said in a statement, describing the attack as retaliation for what it called "the brutal attack on the Minab school" and for "ongoing cyber assaults against the infrastructure of the Axis of Resistance."

That seems like a lot if true.

eh, we have a petabyte SAN in our production datacenter.
I imagine they probably just exfiltrated entire virtual machine disk images and their attached storage associated with them. Who knows if they can make use of any of it. Still not great. Got to assume it is compromised.

Of all the companies...Stryker?
I wonder which high-value US/Israeli target(s) have devices?

I have a feeling that once these losers are caught and killed, the internet(eg. Reddit) is going to be a much more rational place.

Stryker cyber attack: Thousands of Irish unable to work as hackers cripple global systems
The Irish Mirror understands many suspect the most likely culprit for the attack is Handala, a pro-Palestinian Iranian-backed hacker group.
The group has previously attacked companies based in Israel.

Internet access could come from wired, cellular, or satellite.
Rest assured they know whom and where it came from

Odd they chose a Michigan base company.
Well, except for the unfettered Islamic immigration allowed in Michigan.
