Thank God. I understand why they had to do it for a time but it was absolute shite and an embarrassment to golf

I like the idea of two tours laddering up to each other. I know the Zurich will probably be on Tour B but honestly I don’t go to the Zurich for the big names anyway.

From a viewing perspective I think this could be great for fans.

If Rolapp can somehow convince the sponsors to get rid of exemptions, even the B events can be entertaining. Maybe someone like Spieth needs to finish in the top 10 of the John Deere to qualify for the next tip tier event. If he's around there on a Sunday, that's an entertaining day. That's just one golfer.

Looks like we're going to get a lot of golf.

About 23 Tier A events over about 40 weeks

Masters
US Open
Open
PGA
Players
Ryder Cup/Pres Cup

So 17 events across the other 35 weeks?

That's a Tier A event 2-3 times/month from about 1/15-9/15. Would expect them to make it mandatory to play 80+% of these events to qualify for playoffs?

I'm here for it.

These are all common sense changes that should have happened a long time ago. Not having a regular tour stop in New York, Chicago, DC, or Boston is economic insanity.

I agree but I think the issue is where you fit those places on the schedule.

The playoffs currently suck. Change the format of the playoff events and open up your season ending race to big markets like New York, Chicago, Boston, etc.

That makes a ton of sense to me and gets the FedEx Cup out of Memphis and Atlanta in August.

Unfortunately the PGA Tour had one of the worst commissioners in the history of modern sports at the helm. Only kept his job for half the amount of time as the two previous commissioners but somehow even that was too long. Rolapp seems like a good choice.

Ending no cut events is a huge plus.

Don't really get the two tour thing. Is he meaning just the Korn Ferry be the tier B like it already is but just add more relegation?

The playoffs for sure need adjusting. Nobody wants to see Scottie dominate and lead the FedEx points by a million and lose the FedEx Cup simply because he didn't win the last tournament of the year.

I like seeing the PGA as the last major going back to August.

Didn't even notice that. Definitely like having the PGA as the last major/later in the year. Good change.

That hasn't changed. It's just the way I listed them in my thoughts.

Tour B for sure if not cut outright. The only reason we get any top players is the gimmicky 2 man team event and viewed as a vacation.

The playoffs are going to look significantly different under Rolapp.

There’s already been speculation about the event and with Fred Smith passing it may not be as important to FedEx to be the title sponsor of the playoff. I think there’s a very real chance the FedEx / St. Jude is moved on the schedule and is not a playoff event.

Would honestly be a banger between the Masters and PGA. Just looking at this year's schedule, move the tournament at Doral to February and stick St. Jude at the end of April.

This is how I think they need to do it after listening to a handful of opinions on various podcasts. Fried Egg had a good one a couple weeks ago.

They need to split the West Coast swing in two. Start the season off with WM and one of the California tournaments.

Go do the Florida swing. Arnold Palmer Inv., Players, Doral being the big 3 in that time frame.

Move into a Southeast swing type deal with East Lake, St. Jude, Harbour Town, Quail Hollow, and the Masters.

Move onto the PGA, and lump a couple Texas tournaments in there some where. Work in the Memorial, Travelers, and go to one of the big markets... Chicago, New York, Boston, Philly, DC, etc.

Then you're deep in to Open season... US Open, Canadian Open, Scottish Open (but somewhere other than just Renaissance), Open Championship, Irish Open maybe.

Come home and keep peppering the Northeast and Midwest leading into the playoffs and full circle it with a couple more California/West Coast events culminating the Tour Championship somewhere out there (PEBBLE BEACH) in Primetime TV.

Let the Yankees and California have the playoffs, but in return we get a good Florida and Southeast run March-May.

I think that services their sweet spot at 21-26 big events.

My personal opinion is that we are over exposed to Torrey and it’s gotten pretty boring. I think the season should start off with WM and riviera personally. I like the idea of pebble being the tour championship.
