The Board of Trustees used the term “inappropriate relationship” when announcing his resignation. However, Carter’s statement used slightly different language.
Inappropriate Relationship is code for having sex with someone you shouldn’t have been having sex with. This seems much bigger than getting caught having an affair.
Billions of dollars in research and development funding flows though Ohio State annually. If he facilitated a back door channel to help an acquaintance gain access to any of that money, then it could have serious implications for the university’s reputation, and potentially jeopardize future funding, grants, and partnerships.
