Right now it is deplorable but I know that eventually CJJ will get this fixed but I just wonder how all of these players seem to all be struggling at the same time with exception of a few.

Because hitting a baseball is in fact really really hard to do. Especially when the guy throwing it really really doesn’t want you to hit it. The whole hot and cold thing is a very real thing. Hitting is incredibly mental and it’s why you see slumps all over baseball at every single level.

Unfortunately, around here you have to say surprisingly.

There is some truth to what Mainieri used to say. These guys are used to hitting ptichers throwing 90+mph and then they see some rag arm throwing junk balls and their timing is off. It doesn't excuse the dismal performance lately but it is part of the reason.

There absolutely is. Take an erratic pitcher that throws 2 daggers for every 5 wild arse pitches. You will not have a good day hitting against him.

I think that would apply more if this happened during a midweek game when we’re in the middle of SEC play. We’re 16 games in. They should be used to this type of pitching. Many of these guys didn’t face SEC last year either. They saw it in the fall/spring leading into the year but that’s pretty much it.

Not saying they suck and won’t get back on pace. They’re in a slump right now. It happens. No need to really think that deep into it.

From what I hear, there's absolutely nothing wrong, it's so early and these games don't matter so it's basically an exhibition

Round ball...round bat...plane of arrival ever changing...speed of arrival ever changing...shadows between home and mound...its amazing anyone can hit a ball. The human mind is phenomenal.

CPM made a very similar statement about 8 years ago when we were struggling to score runs.

FTR, we have hit a lot balls hard but right at someone. Tre Morgan seemed to master this in '23.

It’s always somewhere in between this. The people that say we will suck and never get better are usually wrong. The people that say there is no room for concern are also wrong.

Normally I'd agree, but we've kind of lit up every good arm we've faced. Even the Sac State Friday guy had good numbers and we tore him to shreds.

How I feel as well. We clearly have talent. Another thing I think is impacting things is the tinkering with the lineup. While I wholeheartedly agree with doing it, I think it's causing a few guys to not settle in and hit their stride.

The thing is, though, Jay is doing that on purpose and he's looking for someone that is good enough to take the temporary at bats in stride and take a job.

Lefties, I cannot and have never been able to hit them. My brain cannot fathom that a ball thrown from the arm action my eye perceives, will ever come anywhere near the plate.

Does not compute. That becomes a real big problem.

Before everyone comes to tell me, I already know. I suck, I’m an idiot and all the other things. Bottom line I couldn’t fix it.
