After speaking to several direct sources, I now feel confident in reporting that an F-15E Strike Eagle with the U.S. Air Force crashed early Wednesday during a strike mission over Southwestern Iran. The cause of the crash is still unknown, though at least one source attributed it to Iranian air defenses, with both the Pilot and Weapon Systems Officer (WSO) able to successfully eject over Iran.
Following the crash, Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) elements with the U.S and Israeli Air Force - on standby in a neighboring country - were activated, entering Iran roughly an hour after the crash of the F-15. In the resulting operation, both crewmembers were found and safely evacuated without further incident, being transported to Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. The Pilot and WSO are claimed to suffered minor injuries but were in otherwise “good condition,” with both being airlifted for further treatment to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
Further confirmation and details of the incident are expected to come at a later time from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

This is a war, and we’re winning it by a lot.

Those F-15Es can take a pounding, 4 down and all crews have survived. Are the EXs in service yet?

Thankful that our people are okay. Jets can be replaced.

Boots on the ground already

Sounds like they’re easy to shoot down.
We’re paying more for an F-15EX than an F-35.
Crony corruption and a waste of taxpayer dollars for an outdated plane.
F-15 was an all time great.
It’s a relic now.

Remember watching some F-16s take off at night at Balad.
Always loved the F-16.

I don’t disagree, it’s got to have an RCS the size of Texas. I’m just curious if the EX were in theater since so far it’s just been Es shot down.
That said, an F-35 carrying ordinance underwing probably isn’t all that stealthy either, probably want something with less sensitive tech and more carrying capacity to supplement the F-35.

How in the heck does that happen. They shoot down a jet and we somehow manage to get helos in there?? How amazing is that.

Yeah but we are not used to getting our jets blown outta the sky. China is paying close attention and this would be a sign of weakness in their eyes.

We have some bad-arse helo pilots.
Heck, one that looks like Superman just got the CMH.

It seriously blows my mind. I’d be nervous as frick
Helos just don’t have the maneuverability that jets do. Do they release reports on the mission post-mission? I’d like to know if they were fired upon

Even the Pentagon admits the F-15EX is unsurvivable in the modern theater.
But they say it can do other things like carry a lot of ordinance and shoot from afar out of direct threat and that it can defend homeland airspace in North America.

Its far from a relic, its just switching jobs. The old 1 seater F-15C was a pure dogfighter and could carry lots of air to air missiles. Now the F-15E is a bomb truck and it is very good at that. It can carry a huge load for a fighter and still haul arse and maneuver from brute force of its massive engines. Having those huge engines also leaves a huge heat signature but again, the F-15E is a bomb truck, not an air to air dogfighter. It comes when primary air defenses have been taken out.

3 were shot down by the guy that should have been watching their 6.
We’ve lost 1 in actual battle for an undisclosed reason. F-15 is still a formidable fighter.

I have a friend who let me know earlier, today, that his son has been deployed (USAF) and is in the air piloting a C130J in "the region of the conflict" is all his son could tell him.

I like how it's said that they found them.

An hour sounds like a long time. Is there a reason they are not closer than this to the action to respond?

Iran is over twice the size of Texas
I’m actually impressed it only took an hour
