It’s probably just a badly worded article. Maybe they meant the whole rescue operation.

It’s interesting to me that fast jets get shot down, the entire Iranian military knows where the pilot could be, yet the non-stealth, slow helicopters made it to the pilot and got him out.

Seems like they would be sitting ducks.

Well I guess the information has to trickle down. Someone at HQ has to find out a plane is down, where it is, if anyone survived etc. then they have to determine what kind and how may enemy forces are in the area. Then they have to activate the rescue team and they have to briefed and get to the helicopters. Air support for the rescue team needs to be arranged. Backup teams for the rescue force need to briefed. All kinds of shite.

The cost of the EX is not remotely close to what a 35 is. Also no F15Es are not easy to take down. They have a extensive record and the best record in the world currently for combat missions.

Also, centcom just put out a message that the rumors of an F15E crash in Iran were baseless and not true.

A jet that is shot at 30,000 ft or higher may not go down immediately and in the time the missile is shot to the time the jet is hit, could be 10s of miles. Not to mention the jet may not go down immediately. The pilot could very well end of 100s of miles from where the jet that fired a missile at him is located or the missile battery on the ground. Missiles can be launched from 50-100 miles away now.

How in the heck does that happen. They shoot down a jet and we somehow manage to get helos in there?? How amazing is that.
when you have complete air superiority it's easier

Yeah but we are not used to getting our jets blown outta the sky.
huh?

post vietnam
1983 air strikes in syria 50-60 sorties 2 birds down
1986 112 sorties 1 bird down
gulf war 28 birds down

this rate of sorties and only 1 bird down is damned near unprecedented(blue on blue kills don't count).
