This is good, but the H1Bs should be removed as well as them covering cost.

Good. Rural America has been getting arse-raped by data centers and corrupt politicians.

Yea but you use hundreds of apps every single day that require data centers... so are you saying that you are going to completely remove all social media, AI, AI Apps, GPS, Apple/Google CarPlay, Netflix, phone apps, tv apps, internet, etc out of your life?

If you aren't willing to remove all of that out of your life then you have no room to bitch at all about building new data centers. If you do have plans to completely remove all of that out of your life then you have every reason to bitch and moan about the data centers.. so which one is it that you plan to do?

Why is there always a but? Can people just fricking acknowledge a win as a win?

The concerned moderates are paid to use that phrase… “I voted for Trump, but…”

Is this a tweet or genuine policy? How can he hold any of them accountable? Same as with all the "investments" we're already seeing companies pull back on those promises.

Does the pledge say that they’re going to pay full rate? Or just that they have to pledge to pay for their consumption or offset?

7 companies signed a pledge. I haven’t seen a thorough analysis yet, but I expect I’ll get one from Roth or NRF tomorrow. Quick glance says they basically promise they’ll pay for the power they consume. But that’s pretty vague.

I'm not even concerned with the electricity usage, I'm more concerned with how much water these fricking things require. They were planning one near me and the water required almost tripled what the local water authority produced.

And it's shady as frick how they are going about trying to get these things approved, at least around here.

How it started:
"I'm going to cut your electricity costs in half within 12-18 months"

How it's going:
"Well, at least I'm going to make tech companies pay for their electricity".

How it will go: Meta signed the pledge but sold the data center to BlackRock and Blue Owl and neither of them are beholden to any pledges. Prices go up.

I am not sure if you are aware of this or not, but the United States already has thousands of data centers. We simply don't have enough. Every single app on your phone, video game you play, movie/tv show you stream, etc requires a data center

We also have an entire ocean that is filled with water. Now if the data centers use up all of the water in the ocean, then I might be a little concerned

If I want to use an app then why should my electricity cost go up because a data center needs to be built? In the very least, the app can have a cost.

However, my electrical cost rate to heat, cool, light, or cook in my home should not go up because the rates have increased to accommodate data center profits.

My kilowatt usage has not changed more than 4% in two years. My kilowatt cost has increased 17%.

That is unconscionable!!

Rate payers are paying for the folly of United States energy policy of all of the above.

Fossil fuels and nuclear energy are the only way. Stop subsidizing renewable wind and solar now. Eliminate mandatory green energy usage in states and at the federal level.

Why would it go up when Trump is making them build their own power and water plants to power their data centers? - meaning it will not affect normal electric rates
