A beer from the past

Cleaning out the attic a found this from my college days; a beer ball tap. We used to get one of these for small gatherings since I don’t think they held but a dozen or so beers, but it was nice to be able to tap a “keg” in the dorm room. If memory serves me correctly only Coors made them, or maybe they were the first. They marketed them as party balls. Good times.

Ahh the glory days of keggers and doing keg stands. It was always tragic when the last keg was floated.
Good times. Good times

The most mayhem I ever saw with a drinking vessel was 3 watermelons, a drill, and 3 handles of everclear on a 95 degree day in Starkville.

Party ball tap.
I feel like they were 5 gallons, but I'm not sure. I know they had different ones, not just Coors.
I remember the mini-Heineken kegs too, but those were smaller than a party ball. I threw up drinking on one of those mini kegs.
I think I saw a Miller Lite PB just a few years ago.
I'm 47, so I could be wrong with everything I just said haha.

Do they still make Red Dog? For whatever reason, I was around a lot of that stuff in the late 90s, early 00s.

5 gallons
They came in a box that you filled with ice
now replaced by the corny keg. We did not improve on 1980s technology

Red Dog ended production in 2021. I only drank that shite because I was at LA Tech at the time. Bottle of MD 20/20 (lemon lime) and a six pack of Red Dog, good times.

We only drank it because a few times Delchamps put it on sale for 4.99...for a 12 pack. We claimed them all. Also it was uncommonly smooth.

I remember, The Keg near USL, had dollar Red Dogs and you could pay another dollar for a shot of Goldschlager added to it.
I did, this past Christmas, find a shitty liquor store that had all flavors of MD 20/20. I bought all 9 and brought it to a Christmas party. It was pretty fun to see someone open that box and people wanted to steal that gift.
I was a Banana Red guy in high school. I can taste that shite right now. OOF.

I drank a lot of cheap beer in college but couldn’t do the Dog. Too sweet/malt liquor-ish. I remember the logo having a subliminal message when turned upside down.

Lol yeah the Keg had that dollar bar near the bathrooms. We would drive there from BR most Wednesdays in 98-99 because we had friends there, it was cheap, and they didn’t care about the drinking age. We did rolling rocks and various shots.

Oh man I remember "Drinkin on Lincoln" at the Pub down the street too. I turned 18 in the middle of my Senior year, not that it mattered, but I remember going to school on Thursdays with the same long sleeve Polo or Tommy Hilfiger with a pack of cigs in the chest pocket.
Just craziness.

Did you know the Coors originally marketed the “Beer Ball” in Louisiana?
Louisiana was a test market to see if it was worth producing.. I was a TKE, at Southeastern at the time, and we’d buy a shite-ton of them for last minute gatherings.. Surprised it failed as a marketing idea, they were easy, cheap and disposable.
Louisiana is often used as a test market for many alcohol products.
Pretty sure I still have one laying around somewhere..

I remember we did the math and flats of 16 Oz keystones from Am Mart ended up being cheaper per ounce than kegs. The math should have been simple to prove but my roommates argued about it for hours. It just ain't the same, though.
