Must be nice to to not have to recruit with the threat of draconian sanctions hanging over your head and have your recruiting results judged for a healthy team instead of for a team having your best players lost for the season.

Hey dipshit. Are you aware that Texas Tech lost their best player for the season a few games ago who will be all Big 12 and has a great shot at all American this year?

I wonder how they've fared since they lost him, particularly today????

Could you find out for me and let us know????

Once again Tigersbb during the 78-79 season preseason All American Durand Macklin broke his foot in the 2nd game and missed all season. Macklin was easily a bigger loss than Thomas and Reed combined. However instead of curling up into a fetal ball and rolling over like Mcloser Dale Brown led his team to an SEC title and a Sweet 16 appearance. Imagine that.

I’ll answer for him. They beat dat arse!!! the #4 team in the country I might add as well. Amazing how other teams can still function without a starter playing.

LSU has actually had better recruiting classes than Florida every year under McMahon Florida beats us in the portal, but haven’t been too far ahead of us a couple of those years. Just shows how poor of a coach McMahon is and evaluator of talent.

Same year FL chose their current coach. LSU picked McMahan. Oh what could have been.

SAME WEEK that Florida chose their current coach!

Golden was available to hire, but McWoodward sat on his arse and Foley grabbed him.

McHallman was hired about a week later.

Yeah, I was a season ticket holder and that was a great season, It was also Year 7 of the Fantastic Climb to the Top giving Dale plenty of time to assemble his team. Dale didn't have to recruit under pending NCAA sanctions and was able to recruit Dewayne Scales, Greg Cook, Al Green, Rick Mattick and Tree Green along with Ethan Martin, Willie Sims.. and Jordy Hultberg in the backcourt. Rudy was a big loss but there was enough talent to overcome it. The SEC was only ten teams and was not as strong top to bottom as the league is today.

Really? Compare their two records as they stood that week. McMahon had four conference titles and Golden's best finsih was fourth in his conference. This board would have been in total melt mode if Golden was hired over McMahon. Please tell us what in comparison of their records at the time would have made you hire Golden instead of McMahon.

Tood Golden

2019–20 San Francisco 22–12 9–7 5th
2020–21 San Francisco 11–14 4–9 8th
2021–22 San Francisco 24–10 10–6 4th NCAA Division I Round of 64
San Francisco: 57–36 (.613) 23–22 (.511)

Matt MCmahon

Murray State Racers (Ohio Valley Conference) (2015–2022)
2015–16 Murray State 16–14 10–6 T–1st (West)
2016–17 Murray State 16–17 8–8 3rd (West)
2017–18 Murray State 26–6 16–2 1st NCAA Division I Round of 64
2018–19 Murray State 28–5 16–2 T–1st NCAA Division I Round of 32
2019–20 Murray State 23–9 15–3 T–1st No postseason held
2020–21 Murray State 13–13 10–10 T–5th
2021–22 Murray State 31–3 18–0 1st NCAA Division I Round of 32
Murray State: 153–67 (.695) 93–31 (.750)

Hindsight is great, but hindsight also includes that McMahon inherited a program facing NCAA probation and an empty roster while Golden inherited a good team from Mike White with no NCAA cloud. McMahon has lost his best two players to season ending injuries the past two seasons while Golden has not lost a significant player.

Why don't you respond instead of a snarky comment. Because you can't . Neither one inherited the same level of talent as the other and neither lost the same quality players as the other one.

Because what you’re saying is hilarious. You’ve even stooped to denigrating Brown and equating, even lowering some of the greatest seasons in program history beneath this era, the worst in program history. Your argument is “up is down, winning is losing”. Congrats, you’re 100% mental.
