Tried to read this book back in high school, but wasn’t a fan of the interview style it was written In.
Started the audio book yesterday and finished it this afternoon. I really do not get the hype around the book. They had some really good stories in it, but a lot of the stories were a little boring.
I guess I enjoyed the actual zombie attacking stories than the political and scientific ones.

I always enjoyed the movie, but the book was nowhere near the movie.

I do think it would be a great mini series with each episode being a different interview/story

I still think about the soldier story where they are blaring Iron Maiden and mowing down zombies.

The book was pretty simplistic but frankly told a much better story than the movie

I have said this here before, but the movie should have told the book story, with each interview/chapter given to a different director, each given license to create independent, potentially wildly different, styles / music/ lighting/etc, presumably corresponding to the different perspectives of the interviewees.

but each director would have a fixed set of "rules" so that it does not feel like separate movies. For example, how the zombies look and move, etc.

each chapter introduced similar to the book, with the interviewer being the string the ties the whole story together

a Tarantino chapter, a Baylis chapter, etc.

I sometimes think about the story of the people who fled to the north to wait out the zombies in the cold.

The one that sticks with me is the pilot chick getting downed and having to survive the swamps in Louisiana near Lafayette.

I don’t know if I could disagree with an opinion more regarding a book/ movie

I’ve listened to the audiobook probably 5x. I thought the movie was absolute horseshite and didn’t deserve the same title.

I’m listening to the book now and just got through that part.

I’m ashamed of myself for not picking up on certain things earlier.

Yeah, I am kind of surprised one of the streaming services has not turned this into a one-season run. I wonder if whoever made the movie still has the rights.

Fixed it for ya.

I know others have also disagreed with your opinion, but the only thing that movie shared with the book was the title and zombies.

I wonder if the author knew what they'd do to his story.

Hard to believe that this was written by Mel Brook's son.

I enjoyed the book. I think the way Brooks describes the eventual decay of the zombies to the elements makes a lot of sense in zombie world

I enjoyed the book.

The movie was terrible. Even if it wasn't loosely associated with the book, it would still be terrible.

As others have mentioned, the oral history style of the book doesn't lend itself to a movie format.

It would have been better as an HBO series with each chapter covering a few episodes.

The parts that stuck with me were the Battle of Yonkers, and how the military brass wanted to make a show of force which wound up working against the soldiers trying to turn back the zombie horde.

And how they basically formed a line running north to south covering the entire United States, and marched west to east, eliminating every zombie they found.
