It has to be high up the pitch right? I really think he’s got better instincts in the box for finding space for himself than Balogun. Guy is on an absolute heater right now.

He’s a box to box forward

Don’t forget he also has a fricking cannon on long throws. Sam Allardyce thank you for your service.

It's a great problem that you can play him anywhere. Really it will depend on who the other 2 MFs are. If you have Adams and Tessman, Wes is the 10. If you drop one of those 2 and play a Tillman, Wes is a free roaming 8. He can affect a game from either spot. Hell right now he's playing like an attacking mid right wing back

I'll be honesty I haven't watched much since the Copa but do we have an answer to a team that can defend organized and have the talent to counter and not allow us to boss the game? (AKA the Dutch and teams of that caliber+) Going back to 2022, we were missing a 10 who could break down a defensive structure. My mind back then was it had to be Gio going forward but that obviously isn't going to happen.

TA is obviously defensive. Weston isn't going to pick out a pass, just isn't his game. CP is best out wide.

Do we just not have that on the roster?

Uhhhh yes he can. It's probably the best part of his game. Him, Tillman, CP and Flo in the attack have some good potential

I think his central role at AC this year and his product changed that

I don't think so. He is much more active bombing up and down and getting into he box getting on the end of crosses than sitting on top of the 18 controlling the game.

I think you play him as one of the pivots, but it's important for Adams to be healthy because with him having elite recovery speed to slow down any counters, it allows freedom for McKennie to go forward.

If the World Cup were today, my midfield and front would look like this

Adams and Mckennie as the pivots
Pulisic and Tillman as the dual 10's
Balogun up top.

ETA: Dest and Jedi are the wingbacks to provide width on the attack.

Which 3 at CB? Healthy Richards is first name on the team sheet but who joins him.

Richards in the middle, Ream on the left and Freeman on the right.

Noahkai Banks is the wild card in all of this. I hope we call him up and actually play him in March.
