Favorite bands that aren’t that popular

I’ve always wondered if people had a favorite band that never really achieved huge mainstream success
Mine would be Vampire Weekend.
If you’ve never heard them, it’s I think the height of college indie rock. Their sound is so unique that I have trouble even finding comparable bands.

Alter Bridge.
Pretty big in Europe, but definitely should be up there with other huge bands in United States.
Awesome hard rock band. Basically Creed without Scott, add Myles Kennedy as lead singer, paired with Mark Tremonti and now you've struck fire.
One of, if not my favorite rock band out there.

Alter Bridge has the wrestler’s Edge theme song. That’s the main thing I know about them

King Kong, college band from early 90's out of Louisville KY. Almost impossible to Google them because their name is King Kong.
I love them so much.

Very much worth checking out, start from their first three albums, no skips on them baw. Their new stuff is just as good but can tell that there is a developing sound or some experimentation to try something different. In the same ball park no doubt, but some fresh stuff per each album after

Most of the bands I listen to aren't popular.

Pretty much all my favorite bands are not well known.

Little Feat was quite popular back in their heyday of the 70's.

Ok has the average person heard of Metallica? I’m gonna say yes.
Has the average person heard of Vampire Weekend? I’m gonna a say no. Sure they have had 3 top albums, but they certainly aren’t a household name outside of music snobs.
That’s what I was suggesting. Has the average person never heard or vaguely heard of your favorite band?
