Few questions:

What Ammo are you finding available and where? Manufacturer and grain.

What has been the best groupings you've seen at 100yds and with which of those ammos?

What site are you finding the best selection by manufacturer and grain?

I bought 3 boxes of Remington 175 gr coreloks (ONLY THING I COULD FIND QUICK) and tempered/seasoned the barrel with 40 quick rounds Sunday morning and let it cool back down.

Took the other box and dialed it in at 100 and stretched it to 500 on a 8" plate by the end of the day. Really not a fan of the round but it served its purpose for the initial break in and setup. Now without going to custom hand loads (i will if needed) what's everyone using and think?

Not a Ruger, but shot a fellow club member’s Weatherby 307 last year and managed to hit a 500 yard steel plate a few times. I really like the rifle and cartridge and definitely want one. His was dialed in on factory ammo from Choice Ammunition, 195 gr Bergers.

Hornady 175 gr eld-x hunter is my off the shelf round for hunting. Haven’t tried any target shooting rounds yet.

Plan on getting some good hand loads after I finish these off.

I'm a fan of any Hornady ammo for any caliber rifle. The ELD-X mentioned is some good shite.

Its a modernized SST, so you should expect about the same type of terminal performance. Great bullet, super high BC and a wide velocity window for good terminal performance.

I have a 6.5 prc and I haven’t killed anything with it yet so I can’t speak of performance but I’m getting sub moa with Norma bondstrikes and they are reasonably priced.

Helped a buddy get a begarra all set up in 7mm prc a couple years ago.
He had some handloads of varying powder combos with accubonds and burgers and a couple boxes of factory hornady eldxs. The eldx shot just as good as the handloads with hardly any measurable difference.
I would try the hornady to see if your gun likes it.

The ELDX rounds had the most consistent FPS from my 308. 4 fps STDev on a 5 shot group. I don't think my Bergara is stabilizing them, though. My old gun would put them in just about the same hole.

I don't have a PRC so can't talk to that, just be aware that the ELD X is designed to mushroom at longer distances and is more likely to grenade and not pass through at distances 200yd and in.

They're great bullets just know what you're shooting.

Thanks, and not really interested in 6.5prc specs from everyone. Not a comparable round. Totally different animal. It's like saying comparing ammo between a .270 and a 300 win

I mean no different than comparing the same caliber in different manufacturers, not every gun likes the same bullet

It's a thing.

Some barrel manufacturers suggest it "seasoning" a barrel.

Others say to go shoot it and don't worry about it.

shot 1 clean barrel repeat 5 times, shoot 3 clean repeat twice. Shoot 5 clean. I def got some copper fouling out the first 2 shot cleanings you could feel it catch on the patch, after that it was smooth sailing.finished with 24 shots as fast as I could then a complete cool down to ambient, clean and starting my dial it in. Now I'm on cold shot tweaking 1 shot every afternoon and clean barrel. Once i get it right at 100 ill start building my dope.
