It sure was a tough one. Between the acorn crop and how hot it was during historically peak activity, it was a tough one. I didn’t manage to put one down.

How did everyone do?

Now it’s time to get mad at some fish

Decent season. Shot a doe and a good 8point. Shot 2 hogs. Let plenty small ones walk. That my neighbor ended up shooting ????? Girlfriend got her first. a spike. It was brutal hot. Hunted in shorts most the season. Sad it’s over. But going plant summer plots and moving a stand next weekend. Then going get on the sac a lait and bass spawn

Worst ever, too many acorns, rodents ate the wiring in my 4 wheeler, killed a good hog early, saw nothing but spikes and buttons and bears

My best season as far as getting into bow range of mature bucks. Didn’t bag one with a bow in LA but I had a few really close calls. Took a nice 8 with my rifle that I posted a pic of here in the IST. I observed the best activity from a few days before Xmas up to New Years Day, Area 6.

Got a buck in both Missouri and Texas with my bow before I really started hunting in LA, so that probably saved the the lives of a couple younger deer here in LA.

Decent season still hunting. Saw deer almost every hunt. Killed one big doe. My son killed a nice 8 and several does. (We’re the only 2 hunting our property)

Dog season was a different story. Best season our club has ever had since it was formed in the 80’s. Killed over 30 deer in front of the beagles as a group and we only run on the weekends. I got 1 and REB JR got 3.

1st ever deer on public which was a spike on 1st sit

A 120# 8pt in swamps of south la which was in 2nd sit

I don’t really hunt la so can’t really say if better or worse but I’ll take what I got.

Considering I didn’t get to deer hunt as much as a normal year (baby at home) it was decent to meh. Saw does and fawns on most hunts. Shooters only daylighter a few times when I was at work.

Really plan to improve my food plot situation next season.

I haven't shot a buck in Louisiana since 2020 so it went about how it usually does. I shot two does and let a few young bucks walk. Had a good one on camera but since I'm hunting small tracts I couldn't go after him and had to just hope he showed up again when I was there.

Saw about half the deer I usually see. Killed 4 does and a cull type 7 point. He was 4 years old and weighed 199 pounds on 1/17.

Pretty good for us. My uncle killed a decent 8 and that was his first mature buck he’s killed out there in probably 25 years. I was also able to get an 8 that I had been after. It ended up weighing 205 lbs. Shot midday on 1/27 as I was climbing out of the stand.

I got to see quite a few deer moving with the cold weather. It was obviously slower on the warm days. My buck was killed on the coldest day we had all year and my Uncle’s was killed just as a front started to come through.

Got some does, missed a nice 8 point, had the safety off on what looked like two other shooters but couldn't identify them as well as I wanted to so I passed.

Saw less deer this year overall at our place, especially rack bucks. Had a few hunts seeing 10+ deer, but mostly does or spikes just grazing a powerline

Passed several bucks looking for a big one and killed two big does.
Son killed a tall skinny 9 pt with back tines longer than his spread and main beam tips 1-1/2" apart - also two does.

Areas 1 & 2

Good for meat, but not for horns.

Early season spike, 6pt during rut, huge doe post rut.

For the most part, deer disappeared from daylight during rut due to pressure.

Kinda trashy. I hate hearing people still run dogs like that...

Hell back when we ran dogs in the 80's we killed over 60 one year in Kisatchie.

Unashamed, and would do it again if they hadn't taken that freedom.

I used to hate on dog hunters but don’t anymore. I haven’t lost sleep over a deer in some time

Dog hunters can sleep in late and I bet everyone was having a good time and congratulating each deer kill and probably took group pics of everyone back at the camp while us solo hunters take selfies and get back to the camp and everyone says it would have been a better deer next year

Thank you. I will say this, we didn’t see as many nice bucks still hunting as in years past. And probably 2 years ago we got a lot more selective of what we shoot. I would have thought we would have seen more. We let a bunch of 6 pints and under walk.

Maybe next year.

I got lucky and my big 8 point showed up swole up and stinking and blowing.

He's delicious. Did a European mount. Sitting on my shelf.
