Player comps? Favorite prospects?

Any fans of the 2027 draft?

Technically it can matter if we get back in the draft. I know Weaver has been scouting heavy the center from Houston who should be around the the teens pick

Im curious to know if you guys think the top 5 talent is generational? Like where would Fears and Queen be in this draft?

I think the draft is overhyped and top heavy. After 5-6, it's based a lot on potential. This past draft, 2025, might end up being the best draft in over 20 years and will be hard to top.

The question about Fears and Queen is hard to project, cause we have no idea how they play in another year of college basketball. They should have improved from their freshman years, so I'd assume they'd both be top 10 picks. But I don't think either have as high of ceilings as the top 6 projected in the 2026 draft.

Also, I'm not totally in the camp of Fears and Queen as future stats or solid starters in the league. I love the talent but they are both raw and being developed horribly. This is almost a wasted year for both. I'm hopeful new leadership this summer can salvage both..

New leadership..

You think Dumars and Weaver are getting fired after one season? Or are you blind enough to think Borrego is the problem?

No. Dumars is a politician and a survivor. I believe he mostly spins what happened this season, but realizes that changes are necessary. So, he will shuffle the chairs on the deck and try something new. Weaver will be moved into another role, some people will leave, and hopefully we get some different voices with vision.

I just do not think he is the solution. He is tied to our history, no matter how much we want to limit his role. We need all new coaches, trainers, scouts.. everyone needs to go. Then players need to be honestly evaluated and we need to flip about half the roster, if not a total rebuild. It needs to be really uncomfortable. That's the only way to seriously fix this team..

Until we have a new owner and Dumars is gone, no amount of reshuffling of scouts or coaches is gonna make much of a difference. We need to tear it down to the studs, a true rebuild. Nothing less will make a difference.

I frickin love it..

When we traded our pick to get Queen this board was unanimous that this draft had 20+ LeBrons in it

Now its "top 5-6"

In a month it will be the top 3

That's just my opinion. But when I look at various mocks and rankings, the top 10 is almost all freshman one and dones. I haven't watched a ton of college basketball yet, but those players don't seem overwhelmingly great.

Nate Ament is top 10 in pretty much every mock I've seen. He just played against LSU, and was good. But he's a tweener forward, that is a shooter. He's a total project coming into the league, having to gain a lot of weight and needing to speed up his shot. I'd love to have him, but he shouldn't start in the league for 2-3 years. I can pick apart a lot more too. You just never know with freshmen, who thrive off physical mismatches.

The draft is volatile and it changes up a lot based on player performances and injuries. But take a guy like Kingston Flemings, who is top 5 in ever mock I've seen and the top pure PG in the draft (Peterson is a combo that should be a two in the league). His grades right now are just slightly above Fears from last year. He's putting up better numbers on a loaded team that he doesn't have to carry. But they, Fears and Flemings, project just about the same. If Fears is in this class, they are rivaling one another. We'll see how he finishes the year, and if Houston wins it all. But is he a lock Superstar at the next level?

Right now, there's 3 franchise caliber players.

People say whatever, but it's always been the same 3.

Peterson
Boozer

It would be nice to get a player from the Boozer family tree. Oh wait a minute

It's hard to judge legacies. Boozer is blessed genetically and is an early bloomer. But is already maxed out and may not get any better. He had tremendous coaching, nutrition, training, and guidance to become an exceptional professional. But even with all those advantages, he doesn't have a high ceiling, although he has a very high floor. Basically a can't miss professional.

Give all those advantages to someone like Queen who is more naturally gifted. How good would Queen be then? Of course Queen would have to want it, but that's where Boozer's drive and discipline separates him. The player has to want to be great..

The white knighting for Joe giving our pick away for no legitimate reason continues. You’re nothing if not consistent.

I'm not rehashing the debate. If that pick falls top 4, then he lost the deal. Its a massive gamble. I hope that isn't the case, and Queen becomes a huge star. But the odds aren't in my favor.

No dumb arse. He lost the deal because he gave Atlanta something he didn’t have to to make the trade happen. Seemingly everyone but you knows this. Maybe you are Joe??

Has there been any actual proof ATL would have accepted the trade with protections?
