She won a few gold medals when she was younger, so she can't blame inexperience and nerves.

Announcers were acting like it was a mental block that was not allowing her to be faster on the giant slalom

They keep saying greatest female skier ever

Nope

Sorry, babe. Skiers are judged by olympics, not world cups

Sofa kings in shambles.

She was absolutely dominant after the skier in front of her (second fastest first run) MISSED THE FIRST GATE and the skier in front of her (third fastest) broke a pole halfway down. Shiffrin blocked that all out and destroyed the field.

When she’s on, she’s absolutely fricking on. 1.5 seconds is massive.

Love to see an athlete get redemption. Golden indeed.

The youngest slalom champion in Olympic history at age 18....

Gold and Silver at age 22...

Gold at age 30....

And what did you do today? Throw in all her World Championships year after year after year...but sure, reduce everything to the Olympics, judge all Olympians on the Michael Phelps standard... "Must win all Olympic golds" to be great.

What a remarkable run by Mikael today. She is one of the best US Olympic Athletes ever. Her interview after winning was uplifting and very well spoken. To lose her dad the way she did is heartbreaking. Glad she was able to bring home the gold.
