Dude is fricking sick.

Entire podium broke the Olympic record and he made it look easy.

Announcers said the 500 is his worst event too.

Already as many golds as ohno in his career

Would he be more hyped if he was competing in short track

If he picks up the last two golds, the dude's going to need a Tylenol or ibuprofen sponsorship when this is over after carrying American on his back for two weeks

At least one speed skater showed up to take names and kick arse. Everyone else has been a disappointment.

I love what the Petit family (fortune made through Bradley clocks) did for the Midwest by building the US training facility in Milwaukee. It's now the exception to see a speed skater who isn't from the Midwest. They've built a family around it with Jansen and Blair not being strangers to the facility. The same with Shani Davis. Stolz put himself into the conversation with Jansen as Milwaukee royalty which is really cool to see.

I don’t know if this is true because I don’t see how it’s possible, but they said he can squat 400lb for 50 reps at about 180lb body weight.

The strongest guy I know can do 405 for 12 and he’s about 250lb.

I saw the special on his workouts during Primetime Coverage the other day. Let's just say the depth on his squats is... Suspect.

His quads are huge. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

No sh*t

No matter who you are doing 50 reps at 2X bodyweight is legit impossible in today’s world

If you could do 20 reps at that it would be likely impossible without central nervous system failure

Dude was lit. Saw him race for 7-11 wayyy back and he looked like a body builder compared to the rest of the peloton.

I think there was a time where he was someone who was also considered one of the top cyclists in the country.

He became a top notch orthopedic surgeon

Per his wiki page: "Stolz eats pizza every day before training. His favorite restaurants are Jimmy John's, Texas Roadhouse and The Fox & Hounds." I see he eats whatever he wants

I mean, makes sense. Estimates are they burn between 800-1,000 calories per hour of speed skating training (obviously depending on intensity of workout). My guess is highly competitive folks like Stolz probably do two blocks of training a day (3-4 hours on ice/3-4 hours interval/off ice).

Their aerobic base is likely absurd.

Stolz is the clear favorite in this event. He can also win the Mass Start, but it’s a much more unpredictable event. He’s setting himself up for an all time Games if he can take home Gold in his last 2 events.
