Costa interviewed the ESPN personality for a piece that will air on CBS Sunday Morning on Feb. 15.
Smith told Costa: “I will confess to you, I’m giving strong consideration to being on that debate stage for 2027” and running for the Democratic nomination. “I’ve got this year coming up 2026, to think about it, to study, to know the issues.”

What's interesting is if Screamin A was announced as a candidate to run the New York Knicks, everyone would laugh their asses off and it would be totally unserious. And he's marginally more qualified for that job than the office of the president. For some reason now, we've been conditioned to view the presidency as an office that requires less serious credentials than running a basketball franchise.

As far as the pure entertainment content this could produce, I'm in. Newsome vs Stephen A could be just the insanity the Dem party needs.
