I recieved a call from his school today (he's 11 and a 6th grader) informing me he was involved in a fight during PE.

by saying that he was "involved" in a fight, did they just mean for you to be aware that some lesser form of life apparently hurt your son? Or were they saying that in some way, your son "participated" in the actions leading up to and including the physical violence?

I am assuming that it was just the other kid who has be disiplined about this incident. And NO! I would not ban him from wearing his LSU gear, because I feel like that would show that there was some "benefit" in the bullying, that fear and intimdation can bring some desired results, even if you were punished for it. In other words, I wouldn't want that bully-kid to ever have the opportunity to say he didn't mind getting caught and punished as long as it cost your son the right to wear his prefered team gear and colors.

FWIW, my 9th grader would gladly beat the crap out of that kid, (no bodyguard fees need apply) and we could always play the "she's a girl" card in her defense!!

If by some chance the kid got a punch/hit/spit ball in on the wheelchair kid, this would be all over the news... Not local news mind you, but FOX NEWS and CNN. No way, no how. I am calling B.S.

I did not witness the incident. An administrator that did not witness it either phoned me and told me that it started with LSU/BAMA and then got physical. I haven't had a chance to talk to my son about it. From what I was told, my son was pushed back in his chair, he then kicked the kid that pushed him, a punch was thrown at my son's face and my son then rolled over the kids foot (his power chair does weigh 300lbs). There was apparently some eye gouging after that and then it was broken up. That doesn't really consitute a fight, but how can there be a fight when one of the fighters is in a wheelchair and can barely raise his hands over his head without help. Not sure this is really all that news worthy.

I got into with an USC fan at a Laker Warrior game. I was wearing my LSU jacket and without me even saying a word to him as the game was over he said " LSU LSU Sucks".

About the time he finished the word sucks i lit in to him with a verbal assault that made him fear for his life and my wife was upset with me because you should have seen his eyes.

He realized he just tackled more than he wanted and i bet he thinks twice before he bad mouths LSU again.

As he was getting out of there as fast as he could i was screaming at him " The Most Committed Wins Bandwagon" " Carry your bandwagon arse"

He was an arrogant jerk and ill be damned if i am going to let someone act like that and go unmatched.

I didnt do anything to bring on his disrespect to my team. He was a jerk and got what was coming to him.

His friend even told him he brought it on by insulting my team.

frick, bamaland! You stand up and call this the pile of crap that it is. They want to make allowances for every single minority and special issue under the sun in schools these days. There is no way that a kid should be allowed to be harrassed because of the clothes he wears. How much bigger of a deal would it have been to the admin. if a child were bullied and pushed around because he was wearing Middle Eastern clothing? Or a girl with a head covering? Everyone demands tolerance and inclusion around this city, and your son is no different!

Take your two posts and go look up tigerfan in bamaland's posting history. Then tell me if you think he comes off as someone who would make up a story about his son having Muscular Dystrophy and on top of that weave a web of deception about some other kid picking a fight with his son.

I haven't begun to be well spoken towards your worthless arse...

I'm not sure being a tiger fan is protected under freedom of relgion, but I guess a case could be made.

If you doubt my son's MD, please call on Verge Ausberry or Larry Porter, they have met him and can validate his current medical condition.

The only part that sounds odd is he is in a wheelchair. If he wasnt, I wouldnt see what the big deal is. But picking on a kid in a wheelchair for ANY reason is bad. I dont think the fact that it was a Bama/LSU issues has that much to do with it.

After I have a chance to speak with my son about this, I will update.

As far as I was told, neither boy is in any documented trouble and parents were notified as this was the first incident between the 2.

I have to disagree with those who say fight back. There are times and places to wear team colors, such as special team spirit days, athletic events, week-end trips to the mall, etc. If it is done just to be defiant or to stand out, be prepared to suffer the consequences. I live in Alabama as well, and as a tiger fan, I still show my allegiance, but do so with discretion. I am not talking about backing down or losing face, but playing it smart. People know my team, but I avoid flaunting or being arrogant about it. My advice would be to ease up, use the P&G selectively but proudly when others are doing the same. This shows respect for others who do not see it the same way as you do. It really has application to issues outside of this thread.
