Rayne restaurants

Will be in Rayne for baseball Friday afternoon/evening. Was looking for a local restaurant for either pre-game lunch or post game dinner. Saw Chef Roy's Frog City Cafe... anyone have any thoughts/info on that place; or suggestions of any other ideas? Will be coming from Pineville so could also consider any places on the way in between, but was looking for something closer to Rayne High School.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Solid recs, can confirm you can't go wrong with these spots.

The 3 listed are it.
They are basically in between the baseball fields and the High School.
The High School does not have a baseball field on campus.
The Crawfish Hut has good food, but it’s on the South side of town. There is no traffic in Rayne, so you could feasibly be there in less than 10 min.
On the way out of town you could head into Duson on Hwy 90 and stop in at Naq’s in Duson. Theres great food there too and probably some live music. Plus, Kevin is just as solid as they come and a helluva accordion player to boot.

Drive to Kaplan and go to Suire's.

All solid suggestions, could also drive one exit down to Duson and go to Rascals, Friday is their fried fish buffet(lunch & dinner), some of the best fried fish around.
The Mexican restaurant ain't terrible either, Casa Margarita.

I mean I enjoy Suires as much as the next guy….
But, that’s what…. About 40min south from I-10?
Have they ever repaved Abbeville Hwy south of Rayne? That sum bitch has been tore up since the 90s.

I detoured from Lafayette en route to BR to go to Suire's recently. No regrets whatsoever. The beat up roads add to the ambience.

They just repaved hwy 35 from the Lafayette parish line (northern prong of bayou) to highway 92 (rice bins). The Acadia parish section of 35 south of Rayne is still trash.

I don't think the guy wants to drive 1.5 hours there and back
That's like telling someone to go to Baton Rouge from Rayne.
He's looking for something local.
Chef Roy's - Great Restaurant
Gabe's - Burgers / Fried Seafood / Plate Lunches
Nonc Kev's - Meat Market / Plate Lunches
Casa Margarita - Good Mexican

Chef Roys= best restaurant in town great food. Older crowd quite place.
Crawfish hut = average food more boozed up crowd typical south Louisiana place
Music, more lively
Nonc kevs = gas station food. Good burgers. Crawfish meat pie is a MUST!!! Boudin Biscuits in the morning is also a MUST GET!!! Not a bad selection of meats to bring home also.
Gabe’s = pretty good food. Country fast food type place.
Casa Margarita = typical mesican.
Not really a fan of Gabe’s or Nonc Kev’s plate lunches.
O’ yeah s= small burger joint never been.

Off topic, Broussard All Stars 6th/7th grade I think played a tourney there in 83/84 and we were hanging out at the field, met a few girls that were dipping snuff. Hawkins or skoal. but blew our mind. country as hell.
Good luck on the game! and the food hunt

Agree with everyone else, Chef Roy's is solid. We go probably once a month. Their onion rings are the best I've ever had. Chicken enchilada's are very good as well.

the only thing we disagree with. Gabes is fantastic

Well I said Gabes plate lunches specifically. They don’t season them.
