We get so many awful teacher postings here. This is an example of the opposite -- Dani Jesmonth used a novel approach to teach 4th graders about the Declaration of Independence.

4th Grade Teacher Reads 'Breakup Letter' Aloud to Students, Had 'Tears Streaming' Down Her Face Due to Their Reactions
A teacher captivated her fourth graders with a mysterious breakup letter that doubled as a fun history lesson and a message about healthy relationships

• A Charleston teacher captivated her fourth graders by reading a mysterious breakup letter she “found” in class
• By the end, her students were anxiously waiting to discover who had written it
• However, the letter turned out to be a “prank” intended to be a history lesson
A fourth-grade teacher in Charleston, S.C., recently turned an ordinary school day into a moment of suspense and laughter for her students.
Dani Jesmonth pretended she had discovered a crumpled "breakup letter" near the recycling bin in her classroom and announced she would read it aloud. She promised her students she would reveal who wrote it, instantly grabbing the attention of the room.
The dramatic setup had her 9 and 10-year-olds buzzing with curiosity and anticipation, but their reaction to the reveal was even more priceless.
“Their reaction was just the best ever,” Jesmonth told TODAY.com in a recent interview.
...
The dramatic breakup was meant to represent the Founding Fathers’ decision to separate from England, reframing the Declaration of Independence as a breakup letter of its own.
By putting historical frustrations into modern language, Jesmonth hoped to make the lesson both memorable and meaningful. The Declaration outlined years of control and ignored grievances, much like the letter the students heard.
...
“My main goal being a teacher is I want kids to love to be at school,” she told TODAY.com. “You can teach pretty rigorous content, but you can do so in a fun way that allows kids to really enjoy what they're doing.”

So the teacher didn’t sleep with any of the students?

The letter:
“Darling, this is hard for me to write, but we need to talk. We have been together for so long, but most of our time has been really bad for me. You are so controlling, and you never ask what I think,” the letter read.
“You always tell me what to do, and I am sick of it. I don't know how else to say this to you, but we're done, and it's all because of you. I've tried to talk about my feelings before, but you never really listened. So this is goodbye. Peace out!" it concluded.
Oh- the tears: "I was laughing and smiling so hard that I had tears streaming down my face, and their reaction was just the best ever,” Jesmonth said.

Very good.
I didn’t think this was the direction we were heading but this is very cool.

I bet she got the idea from the show "Hamilton" and the song by King George "You'll Be Back" , hilarious performance. It's a great idea though.

When I was a teacher, I was told by one of my supervisors that teaching is "a performance profession." That seems to track.
That's a good teacher.

I am a teacher and I can confirm that this has been a go to lesson in schools for at least 15 years, probably much longer.
Kids do like it though!
