2 of my stupid chickens decided to not go in before the coop door closed last night and the yotes got them. No sign the coyotes went under the chicken wire on the run. Can they climb a dang 7ft fence with chicken wire?

I set a trap for them for tonight so will update if it works

I know beagles can, and as a kid we had an inbred Llasa that could.

I had a lab that could climb out a 6’ fence.

Yes they can. I have a couple of videos of coyotes up in trees, maybe 15-20 off the ground in an attempt to escape the hounds.

I've seen more than one dog standing/walking on the 2x4 header of a 6 foot wood fence.

I'm gonna have to say that they can climb yours.

Google. Coyote Roller. You can make something similar with PVC pipe.

i was turkey hunting one time on a 3 strand barb wire fence. A yote snuck up from behind me and came over the fence just like a man would come up a ladder, then down the other side. I couldn't believe it, he could very easily have gone under.

I had to put a metal roof on a seven foot cyclone enclosure to stop small rabbit beagles from climbing out, so yeah. Coyotes have zero problems with that.

Go ahead and run a Hotwire around the top of the fence.

I had coyotes tear thru a chain link fence to get to my rabbits after hurricane Sally. The storm knocked down my privacy fence so they had access into my back yard. The pen had a two foot hole that they tore in the chain link.

My folks had a 5' chain link around their backyard which bordered the bayou. One night I was over there and I let the two labs out while talking on the phone.

They kept running back and forth and sure enough, there were two coyotes that they were chasing/playing with inside the fence My folks were intent on keeping the gates closed to prevent this so they climbed or jumped.

Yes.

My kangal would lay in the tall grass of his yard and whine so they'd jump the fence. They could climb in... They'd never climb out.

That reminds me of a crowd control method invented by Allman Brothers road manager Twiggs Lyndon. He lined the front of the stage with sheet metal and greased it up with STP.

That's why Duane Allman often wore an STP shirt.

Perhaps something like this at the top of the fence would keep out the crowds.

I'm convinced coyotes can go just about anywhere they want, and they pretty much have over time.

To the poster above who mentioned them getting his rabbits. We raised raised rabbits for years in a barn/crib converted to a rabbit hutch. It was mostly open on two sides with just a knee wall, but inside a fenced in lot where we also had a few goats. I have no idea why, but over the years we never had a problem with them getting in. I think we were just lucky because I know there were plenty around.
