Advice for finding a lease (deer)

I know this board has mixed feelings about a lease in LA or MS but I am trying to find one. Ideally in area 6 or 4 or even SW MS.
For those that are in leases, how can one find one? News paper ads? Contacting a land realtor you know? Asking around town?
If I can’t find one, I’ll stick to public
Thanks for any advice OB

Yep. I agree.
It can’t be a good one too. Figured I’d ask on here since this board gives some excellent advice

I picked one up a couple years ago that just fell into my lap by happenstance. Land manager for a company called a realtor in town and told him they had an opening. Realtor called me first. If you know anyone in real estate ask them to keep an eye out. Maybe contact companies with piepline access in your area. And be ready to move quickly if you find one. Good luck man, it's tough.

Thanks man i appreciate it.
I called a guy in ft adams MS who had land for lease in the hills bordering bottomland. I call him back 2 days later and he already found someone to lease it to. They go really fast
Q: If you have a lease, is it absolutely necessary to have a food plot and such? I guess it depends on how many acres?

Find an area with some good leases.
Ride around on Sunday morning and find the church with all the muddy trucks.
Go to Sunday school.
Im not joking

You do not have to have food plots or feeders if you have some good oaks and plenty of cover. I hunt a small piece of private property between 2 clubs. I let them feed the deer. I have shot multiple bucks moving early to bed up, that had corn on their lips.

When you find the right place you better be prepared to make a move quick. I was looking last year for two members to my lease. I found the best member off this site. Put up a looking for members on al.deer. Within a week I had 100 calls. Have a waiting list now. It’s crazy how many people are looking for small member leases.

If they have an opening there is normally a reason why!!!
That being said area 4 deer hunters on Facebook has several people posting openings in clubs every year. You may be able to land a spot and begin high grading and looking for another.

He’s correct. A club that has lots of turnover usually has a a-hole running it or one a-hole in the camp that makes everyone miserable. We had two spots open because a member and dad bought land. I have since found out that I still have one of those a-hole members. He got his get over yourself or get out this week.

Marry someone that there family is well established in a lease with low members and good deer.
Or marry someone who has land you can hunt.

To be clear….are you looking to lease land for yourself or are you looking to be in a hunting club?

Where do you live? I could add you to a waiting list but there’s no places to camp/sleep.

I would avoid any lease that gets posted on facebook, especially if you see an updated post weeks later still seeking to add members.
