Why is Kushner and Witkoff doing Rubio's job? Is Rubio really in over his head?

It appears to be the same old game plan. US has to send in the big ship with its coterie of support to get attention. They got it and Iran rebuffed initially. Now, U.S. - Iran nuclear talks are back on after Arab leaders lobbied the White House. Yet Rubio is certainly not involved.

Now we know who the big guns are when it comes to solving real world problems. It is not Rubio.

quote:

Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner are expected to travel to Qatar on Thursday for talks on Iran with the prime minister.
From there, they will travel to Oman to meet the Iranians.
The U.S. officials said that considering Iran's behavior in recent days, and the lack of a breakthrough in previous talks, they're still skeptical a deal is possible.

Iran & US to meet Friday for more discussion.

They were which is why they are back on. This ayatollah made sure 10's of thousands in the streets and we are going to humanize this ayatollah for some reason I do not know.

A country must realize when the USA sends in a CVS there will be no more talking. Iranian people need to be free from these religious zealots and they have proved they are more than willing to die for their freedom.

Kushner has an established relationship with every important delegate and leader in the gulf.

I personally do not care for him, but he is doing what was politely asked by the Arab nations. To listen to Iran for a couple hours, and leave.

Kushner is the architect of Trump's Middle Eastern policy and has close ties to Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Now, there's certainly a valid line of criticism for Kushne, but his involvement makes sense from that perspective.

Foreign leaders know Kushner and Witkoff can take a sensitive verbal message directly to Trump without getting dragged in front of a Senate committee.

Does the OP really think the Sec State is the only one who can work on diplomatic missions?

That meeting was supposed to take place in Türkiye.

The new one is planned for Oman.

Rubio is a very busy man. He can't be everywhere at once.

It’s called separation. Keep the higher person out of the initial meetings so any BS can be stomped out by the “we will need to check with Sec State” pretty standard negotiation process.

How old are you?

Rubio has a huge role already. Special envoys are like ambassadors. Whether you care for Kushner or not, his putting together the Abraham Accords was viewed as impossible when any sort of peace agreement was considered impossible. It is doubtful that anyone else could have done this.

Rubio is the latest guy to be pushed out of the way. I have seen on Twitter that Massie should be the next president and Rubio be his vice president. These people literally smoke crack.

Kushner is an expert on Middle East. He was very effective in Trump’s first term pushing the Abraham Accords

Because they are 110% attuned into Bibi and Israel's "River to the Sea" agenda. The rulers of all these ME countries (SA, Qatar, Kuwait, etc) happen to all be cousins. Kush is just reinforcing the respective roles and scripts.

Rubio was never meant to handle any of the ME biz.

Bottomline: The whole ME thing in NONE OF AMERICA'S BUSINESS.

As long as Republicans control the Senate.

I like Kushner and appreciate what he is done. There is no doubt Rubio is the MIC guy and is SoS only to appease that crowd.
