We watched Tre Harris aggravate his ankle injury against LSU in 2024 dunking on this goal and it changed the trajectory of that game. Call me a grumpy old man but it seems like an unnecessary risk. There are safer ways you can have swag after big plays.

Don't mind culture change and swag but the basketball goal has always been corny!

It’s not corny at all. (I used to think so, as well, until I learned its real purpose). Lane uses the basketball goal yo create friendly competition, while also creting a fun atmosphere that players find hard to leave. Each day, he pits an offensive player against a defensive player. I liken it to the friendly competition Les used to create with the Big Cat drill. In the end, the kids enjoy go8ng to practice each day because of the fun environment created. He believes it will help with retention, as well.

frick it, let the baws have fun. Not a huge fan of it on the sidelines, but if the players/coach want it then “let them”.

Tigerstark had a great recommendation yesterday…

…make it an NIL opportunity - Raising Canes or something.

A lot of things around college football are corny, if they work, let it be.

You did admit you once felt the same. I'm with you on the competition part. I'm just saying for me the goal and turnover chains teams have are gimmicky to me. Now I never knit pick . Its just a response directly to your post. lil friendly signing day tiger talk.

Make the ball look like a chicken tender and the goal look like the Cane's sauce. $10,000 donation to the NIL fund with every dunk.

I will never condone this behavior, but I will never complain about it either.

Don't put words in my mouth. I'm still not a fan of having a basketball goal on the sidelines. But after listening to the rationale of it from our inside WR coach (can't remember his name) and how it stemmed from the basketball goal and competition from inside their daily meetings, I'm open-minded about it.

Sometimes, having deeper knowledge of something changes how you view it.
