Long stretches were actually pretty beautiful, no trash on the sides of the roads, things cut and well-maintained.
Was peaceful AF.
This was in the sections prior to where the ice and snow apparently knocked a shite ton of trees down on 167.

It’s been a while but mostly just pine trees?

Watch your speed in Dodson baw.

One of the wilder stretches of highway is 28 west between Ellick and Leesville. Really desolate little forest communities. Always wondered what it would be like to live in a place like that. The land that time forgot.

I live not far off of that highway in Dry Prong. I love my little commute to work travelling up and down 167. No traffic at all, just gotta watch for those cops in Creola, Bentley, and here in DP. Ellick sucks but living out in the forest is very peaceful. Would recommend.

Very nice.
Lots of police. I think I saw eight of them in Winfield alone between Parish and local guys.

I think the Dodson Fish Market is back open and serving burgers again though. They had closed down like ten years ago. Great burgers there.

May the Simpson vs Hicks rivalry never die!

What about 28 to Jonesville and T-town? No pines. Just country.

You are correct, just watch for deer and obey all speed limits.....oh, and empty your bladder before driving past the 71/167 split.

2 miles east of Winfield is David's Pro Burger. Awesome burgers and catfish. Not many places where you can get the whole fish.

My g g grandad was one of the founders of Hicks Uncle found his original land and rebought it about 50 years ago and lived on it. I asked him to let me match any offer he had on it to keep it in the family. He didn't.
He was in the oil business and directed the first off shore well in Iran.

It's where I grew up. It was awesome.

Hilly, very green and some good foliage in fall

Can put me right to sleep. T-towne to Jena skirting Catahoula and all the pine trees is way more scenic.
OP is right. 167 once you get out of pineville and start moving through tioga, bentley, dry prong etc is a nice drive.

They got that little Shell in Bentley if you’re on 167.

And Dry Prong has that gas station across from the Dollar General too.

I moved to Shreveport from there if that tells you anything. Good hunting, good people, bad economy/job opportunities.

Shell T-towne also makes a really good burger with a fat juicy patty.
