Why are they trying to recall Sid Edwards?

Can someone share the brief version why democrats are trying to recall him?

Because he's having to clean up the mess his predecessor ignored for years.

well my original guess was because he's white but he was at Istrouma and very involved in the black community so that wouldn't make sense

Seems to mostly be democrats doing democrat things.
The only thing I can think of is him getting caught in one email saying “we don’t want ICE here before the election” in reference to the THRIVE Initiative. Sid really hasn’t done anything, controversial or otherwise. All he’s done is try to work out the massive budget issues the city has due to the previous administration’s handling of St. George. These budget problems forced mass layoffs from city government after the THRIVE initiative failed.

From comments on-line, it seems the people of BR proper are mad that THRIVE didn't pass and now they have budget problems since they can't leech off of St. George.

It’s hard to do much of anything without a budget.
The failure of THRIVE wasn’t due to a lack of effort by the mayor’s office.
The main opponents were Broome fans and library supporters. I would imagine the very same people are behind this recall.

My theory is to draw attention away from the Dunn scandal and all the ripple effects.

Sid does need to take a role in getting the litigation over the illegal annexations resolved.

That doesn’t matter. He’s still white, and (registered) Republican.
The dude bent over backwards to appeal to black and democrat voters. Just look at the people he surrounded himself with. Lots of black and old guard BR democrats. All in the spirit of ‘working together’ and ‘crossing party lines’. That shite doesn’t work with black libs. It’s party and race first. They cannot allow a white repub to claim any success (real or perceived) under their watch.

I read the recall thing they submitted and while I dont know how those things are usually worded, this one seemed very vague. "Hasn't worked towards the benefit of the people" and stuff like that
