Hunting Venice and staying clean

I've been hunting downriver the last couple of years. Is it just impossible to not end up with everything covered in mud? I'm tired of scrubbing 6 dozen decoys after every hunt. I'm not even sure how I'm spreading mud, but it ends up on my face, gun, etc. Any tips there would be appreciated, but I understand that maybe it's just part of hunting down there.

I’d gladly take that Miss River mud over the Canadian river mud. It’s going to take months for all that red mud to work its way out the decking.
When I hunted down there we’d rinse out pirogues individually, then load them in boat, then we’d dunk decoys and load. And you have to make sure you rinse your waders before getting in boat. But we usually had a working wash down pump.

Yeah, there's nothing you can do - especially if you hunt out of pirogues.
Just the nature of it.
We pressure wash everything on last day of hunt (decoys, guns, bags, pirogues, etc) - which has helped tremendously.
However, the seadek in my duck boat is nearly brown now from the stains over the years.
It is just part of the territory.
Regarding keeping it off of your face, etc - that's even more of an impossibility if you are hunting with a dog.

That is just a part of the sport we all love!
Just talking about it makes me want to hunt!

My suggestion keep an older boat to duck hunt out of it gets beat to hell down there.
I have a 2001 24' bay boat that does everything I want down there looks like shite but runs well and hunts and fishes well. When the season ends I pressure wash it and move on. I don't think there is a way to keep a boat clean and duck hunt out of it.

Hammer knows. We have a similar set up, 2002 Express. You can beat the crap out of it and it doesn't get worse than it already is. Problem is now with the lack of ducks, effort ain't worth the squeeze. Grinded thru the mud in my pirouge on a couple hunts down there this year and didn't fire a shot. That's when you question if it is worth it.
