Elon Musk chimes in on Helen of Troy being black in Nolan’s Odyssey (speculation?)

Deadline
I searched the board and can’t find this but find this decision hard to believe, siap.
Lupita whoever is Nolan’s Helen of Troy?

Chiming in on speculation that Lupita Nyong’o will play Helen of Troy in the star-studded adaptation of Homer’s epic poem, which premieres July 17, Elon Musk questioned the writer/director’s integrity. Responding on X to someone who argued the Helen in the book is “fair-skinned, blonde, and [the face that launched a thousand ships’ because she was so beautiful that men started a war over her,” calling the unconfirmed casting “an insult to the author,” Musk took aim at Nolan.

star-studded adaptation
I have zero desire to see this movie.

Pretty soon AI will be able to generate better movies than Hollywood can produce. That will be the death-knell of these woke morons.

I thought Diane Kruger was a stretch for Helen.

It's been "discussed" in this thread.
I still haven't see anything that confirms her as Helen. It seems like it is all being speculated because she is sitting next to Bernthal in the trailer, as Helen would be Bernthal's wife.
There is also a lot of speculation that she plays Clytemnestra.

Yeah, the AI movies will be produced by REAL Americans in Silicon Valley.

Indeed, sir.
But honestly, I think there will be a democratization of movie production with the use of AI and small startups. The people will eventually get what the people want one way or another. If Hollywood won't provide it, someone else will.

Somebody created a fake picture with Lupita and the usual suspects ran with it. This is not confirmed

To be fair, the still shot in the OP is from 12 Years A Slave, not this movie.
But also, no one from the film has come out and denied it.

The photo that is being used in the OP is an edited photo from when she was in 12 Years a Slave.
I think she was also rumored as Athena at some point. So nobody actually knows.

Yes obviously, it’s still her is it not?
The comparison side by side is to show the prior Helen

It was obviously used as a dupe to ragebait over a potential casting.
Helen of Troy was also born from an egg after her Mom mated with Zeus in swan form. So, I don’t know that I’m going to get bent out of shape over the “accuracy” of the color of her skin.

I’m not sitting here and editing a collage for you when it’s readily available on the internet.
Is it still a “dupe” if she’s confirmed to be Helen?

The photo was used and spread as a confirmation that she’s Helen. There’s no such confirmation. We’ve also seen her rumored as Athena.

Because I’m not sky screaming over the skin color of an actress playing a fictional character? Riiigghhtt.

What do the people want?
Content that isn't trying to push cultural marxist goals. The overt use of identity politics and eroding traditional western values through DEI policies. People want movies that are focused on entertainment and not indoctrination.

Yeah, am I the only one that thinks Jon Bernthal is also miscast? I liked him as the tough guy in several roles but this one seems to be a stretch for some reason. Can't really tell exactly why but his brief lines in that trailer also seem off. And they couldn't find a role for Pedro Pascal???? I thought he had to be in every new big release. He should have been Polythemus. This movie will tank. Those of us who read and loved The Odyssey are largely turned off; those who will dig the casting, won't be interested in a retelling of a classic.
