It's a child's perception. Telling. But it's nonetheless a child's perception.

Our youngest once answered the door, and it was a neighbor's wife who was a doctor. When I introduced her, our 3y/o son collapsed on the floor in a laughing fit. It was the kind of laughing convulsions that had everyone else laughing too. No one knew what we were laughing at, but it went on until we were all hurting. When we could finally breathe, I asked him what was so funny. He said "Girls can't be Doctors."

In my role at that time, I'd have after hours meetings with various doctors or groups at the house. Everyone happened to be male. Our son had picked up on that. Kids say what they see.

I completely understand. Just trying to help you fire up some oppressed feminists!!

A healthy relationship has mutual respect and well defined roles, responsibilities, and boundaries and both should hold the other one to those.
