As of yesterday, overthecap.com was reporting the Saints were $13.5M in the red going into the offseason. Suddenly, that number is $6M. What freed up the extra $7.5M? Either way, we can get to $26M in cap space just by restructuring a few contracts (Young, Granderson, JJohnson, Reid). Those restructures still leave more than $140M in cap space for 2027. Feels good to finally get out of cap hell.

Finally paid off all that Brees money.
As much as you people worship him.
If he would have played at a discount he would have had at least 3x rings here.

the NFL Players Union throws a shite fit when players take discounts.. The only time they seem to turn their heads on the issue is for Brady and Rodgers

If Pierre Thomas hadn’t been knocked out walking into the end zone……

If Gregg Williams wasn’t retarded……

If the most egregious officiating frick up ever hadn’t happened…..

If Vikings 1….

If Vikings 2…..

If Mike Thomas hadn’t intentionally fricked Brees vs the Bucs…..

shite if Beast Mode hadn’t happened….

Bro it’s the Saints. Be glad the football gods let us have one.

I think being around 8 million under at the end of last year we were able to carry that over to 2026?

They changed the Cap Space # from $313,699,986 to $321,292,222. No idea why, looked like the original number already included the carry over from 2025.

Yeah, you can go to the cap calculator on the team page to see how much cap space they assigned each team. They set their number based on their own projections I think.

It was $13.5 under the cap (-13.5). Now it’s -$6M in cap space. It looks like the leftover cap space from last year got rolled into this year, hence us gaining an extra $7.5M.

Crazy how people still think we in great shape this year when we still in the red before the season starts. Restructuring just pushes more money into the future.

I rather just have a quiet free agency and then be set the next couple years.

Caleb Williams went 5-12 and Drake Maye 4-13 their rookie seasons. Their teams saw the massive potential and had huge offseasons. Patriots finished 13-4 and are in the SB. Bears exceeded expectations and made an exciting playoff run. Both amazing for those franchises.

No, we should not take it easy. And under no circumstance should we go another year without addressing OG. That would be a fireable offense.

If you were $13.5Mil under the cap, an extra $7.5Mil would bring you to $21Mil under the cap.

Bears had a ton of draft capital from arse raping Carolina in the trade that got them Williams and hit on their draft picks.

NE had the most money under the cap last year and spent over 360 million on free agents.

Two entirely different situations from what we have. One team had excessive draft capital, one cap dollars. Neither situation is what we have or had the last few years. Actually the complete opposite.
