I think the point is it's not even worth sharing even with the qualifier that it's a rumor. It suggests that you might believe it or perhaps want to believe it. Both of which are pretty silly is about the most polite way to put it.

No.. it suggests that I see hundreds of people posting about it on X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. That's what it means.
