O-T/Poli/Travel Board Mash-Up.

President Trump just announced on Truth Social that he is decertifying all Canadian made aircraft due to certification issues with Gulfstream business jets.

This is gonna be a mess for travelers as most regional jets are of Canadian origin.

So he’s affectively shutting down regional air traffic? That’s seems bad

400+ CRJs in the air right now. This is gonna be chaos for airlines recovering from one winter storm and preparing for another.

"I'm going to charge Canada a 50% tariff on any and all Aircraft sold into the United States of America"

He still doesn't understand how tariffs work does he? The company buying the aircraft would pay the tariff....

It’s not supposed to make sense. Just enjoy the chaos and watch things burn. Yes you pay more for things, but it’s worth all the free entertainment. This is coming from an Econ major back in the day.

I’ll take an Embraer over a CRJ any day, but I really, really hate the constant petty public squabbling.

Likewise, but airlines can't snap their fingers and swap those 600+ CRJs to ERJs.

If we wanna get nuanced about it, it's based on the contracted incoterms. There are many situations where the seller pays duties where there are D-terms. I'm sure over the last 12, 9 months especially, buyers have agreed to pay slightly more upfront with D-terms just for the stability of not having to worry about erratic trade policy. I know the company I work for has.

Well people are less likely to buy their products.

In this case, potential U.S. based Global Express customers would likely switch to the G800

Dims have been complaining about emissions for decades while flying around on their private planes. This seems good.

—-Works just fine. Some of that US tariff $ will go into your tax refund, inflation is nominal, countries are not taking advantage of the US like they used to.

I don’t think you do. This is the point. Buy American, don’t pay the tariff.

Correct and since the buying entity has to pay the tariff, they stop buying the product, hitting the seller where it hurts

I love this one.

I really despise Canada at this point. If we decided to take them over by force I’d pay more taxes willingly at this point

But yet the trade deficits are growing…….

But if you too only listen to what the government wants you to hear, you too can be an idiot….

How are the airlines going to replace the 1200+ CRJs?
