Went and got fitted for a new driver today

First time getting fitted and it was interesting to see how I hit them all. I'm a high handicapper, 20 and currently play with the TM Sim 2 Max.
They definitely all felt different swinging them, but I hit every single one better than my Sim 2.
The Callaway Quantum was just barely better than the Sim 2 for me. It felt a little heavy in the swing and I just couldn't get clean hits with it. Distance was the same, but tighter dispersion.
Next for me was the Cobra Optm. Again felt heavy and very similar to the Callaway but I was getting better distance out of it.
From there it was a pretty significant jump for me up to the TM Qi4D Max. Much better distance and dispersion. It felt great and my miss hits weren't near as bad. Felt comfortable swinging it too.
The winner for me was the Ping G440 K. I hit it further and had tighter dispersion than every other head. My miss hits were far fewer and I was piping everything right down the middle. From the first swing I knew this was the one for me. I even went back and swung the Qi4D again because I went into it wanting to stick with TM, but I just couldn't make it touch what I was doing with the Ping.
I'll say, if you're like me and have struggled with your driver and keeping the ball in play, go give the new Ping a try. It's a game changer for me. I didn't hesitate to drop the money after what I saw and felt from it. They had to order the shaft for me that I need, so it will be another week before I get it in hand but I'm definitely excited to get out on the course with it.

Any numbers from before ? after (swing speed, ball speed, carry, spin)?

I don't want you guys crapping on me, I suck
Swing speed was 87-90 before and after. Ball speed I didn't see with the Sim 2 but I was seeing 117-120 with the Ping and smash factor was consistently right around 1.4.
Spin was crazy with the Sim2, I saw 5000+ with it twice but wasn't paying much attention. With the Ping I was seeing in the range of 2500 and carrying 225 - 230.
I always question how accurate these numbers are because I routinely hit my Sim2 250 on the course and have GPS data showing that and I wasn't touching 200 with it today. That said, I have never been comfortable or hit well on a sim. So take these numbers with a grain of salt.

I had a full bag fitting and I absolutely love my driver that I got fitted for.
My irons are a different story. I gave them 2 golf seasons and never saw improvement from my previous set of irons.
I got rid of them recently. I went and hit a bunch of used sets and just went with feel over any data/specs and I’m already seeing improvement in my irons.
I think hitting on mats makes a difference and would advise not to get fitted indoors on a mat for irons. *Warning this is just my opinion and I have no facts to back up this claim lol.

Same. I want to get fitted for iron shafts, but can’t imagine doing it on a mat.

I tried it out Monday. It’s a good driver. I’ll probably get one soon.
The stock Diamana shafts are solid

I understand your situation. My driver is my worst club in the bag. Bought it from a buddy and while I can hit it consistently, I never get good distance (210-225ish). I've been playing more and more and the wife (no pics) even notices my lack of ball driving ability. She wants me to go get fitted so I am taking her up on that offer. Excited to see the outcome. Where did you end up going to get fitted? I was advised to go to 1.5 Golf in Covington.

With 90 mph swing speed why do they have you in a stiff? Better dispersion?
Regular flex would seem better at that swing speed.

I completely agree with this. Inside driver fittings are fine as there shouldn't be

Did they fit you for a Titleist driver, the GT2 is and awesome driver for beginners and they just dropped their price $200 to from $649 to $449.

The way you swing, i.e. tempo, change of direction, the way you load it, etc., is important when choosing a shaft. You can have a slow swing but if your transition is violent you may need a stiffer shaft. It's not just about pure speed.

Nice. I'm planning on getting a driver fitting soon. Been interested in the 440 and the 430 as well.

I hit the 440 a buddy has. I was 10-20 yards longer than my Stealth.

We tried both and he said it had to do with how I unload my swing. Dispersion was noticeably better with the stiff shaft.

I completely agree with this. Inside driver fittings are fine as there shouldn't be any turf interaction with the driver but all other clubs should be on grass.
Even with game improvement irons, hitting fat shots should show up even on artificial turf. I think you can be smart enough to note those and not include them in the rankings. I think artificial turf is decent to practice off of once you can make consistent contact. Ball may fly better than off grass when you hit an inch behind the ball, but you still know. Perfect ball first contact, I really can't tell the difference between grass and turf.

They might but a mat won't show divot depth, direction or size which matters for lie angle, sole width and bounce and you can get real measurable numbers for spin and ball flight which might be skewed from hitting off a mat. For the average high handicapper, I guess it would be OK but if your a single diget hcp and serious about a real tour level fitting to get clubs that really fit your game, grass is the only way to go.

I love TM fairway woods, so I am going to give the new Qi40D driver a shot.
