So Maryam Rajavi — the neocon’s favorite exiled iconoclast calling for regime change in Iran — is the Islamist-Marxist head of a opposition group once declared a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department? Yes, there is nothing the least bit concerning here. If this is the plan, maybe the red flags ARE the point?

…The Mojahedin-e-Khalq or MEK (also known as the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, or PMOI) is an exiled Iranian opposition group. This report provides background on the group, including its origins, its 1997 designation by the U.S. Department of State as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), its 2012 delisting as an FTO, and other issues.

The MEK was founded in Iran in the early 1960s to oppose the government of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran. The group's foundational ideology has been described by one historian as "a combination of Islam and Marxism." Alongside and in periodic collaboration with other opposition groups of various ideological backgrounds, the MEK in the 1960s and 1970s sought the overthrow of the then-U.S.-backed Shah through guerilla attacks against the Iranian government and other targets.

Some of these attacks killed U.S. military personnel stationed in Iran according to a 1994 congressionally mandated State Department report. The MEK participated in the 1979 Iranian Revolution and, after the fall of the Shah, "supported the takeover of the U.S. embassy, and opposed the release of American hostages" according to the 1994 State Department report. The MEK has denied involvement in the 1979 embassy seizure and other attacks on Americans in Iran…

I’m pretty sure most Americans, “neocons” or otherwise, are just hoping some leader can emerge to overthrow the theocratic regime of the Ayatollah. Shah, Jr. is just a body.

Its always a woman isnt it...

The fricking insanity of thinking Iran will let itself be led by a woman will lead to another 40 years of Ayatollah.

We learned nothing in Afghanistan.

I’m old enough to remember when the US decided any “body” will do after Saddam was deposed. It resulted in a brutal sectarian civil war, hundreds of thousands dead, ISIS, and a permanently broken state. If history doesn’t repeat itself, neocons sure seem too.

That is what many Americans said about neocons.

Yet we are stuck with Marco Rubio.

Trump would do well to remember that neocon fatigue was why many MAGA enthusiasts supported him.

At best the Islamists in the 70s saw the small amount of Marxists as useful tools in their struggle. In the end they were imprisoned and disappeared.

It's hard to tell since you provided no verifiable evidence. You merely stated she is the darling of neocons without any quotes or examples.

You just want us to be outraged like you always are. I've literally never heard this woman's name outside this thread, but you want us to believe that she is being pushed by the administration, again, with literally zero evidence provided.

People just like to bitch. They love assuming the worst so they can let out a good cathartic cry. There is no evidence that this woman is being supported by the administration, certainly none that you have provided. This is just clickbait hoping to make people as miserable as you.

If you want to keep that country backwards and impoverished, make sure the marxists are on top following the revolution.

You do realize that simply using the term "Neocon" doesn't earn you any actual brownie points?

You once again display your utter lack of logical reasoning skills. Reread everything I posted above very slowly.

And out loud if need be. I didn’t claim she was being crowned the Ayatollah-in-exile.

The point here is that the neocon regime-change evangelists are polishing an Islamist-Marxist cult leader into a media darling. Pretending that isn’t a concern doesn’t make it so.

This a straw man. I indicated she was being promoted by neocons and provided 3 examples above.

I saw an interview with Linseee Graham yesterday and he accidentally referred to this woman as Meal Ticket. I don’t think he recognized that he let that slip, he just kept going
