Ive been looking at GunBroker lately and it appears all the guns im interested in are selling at MSRP??
And when did AKs get more expensive than ARs?
And what idiot pays $1000 for those ugly Russian surplus guns that used to be $89 in the back of field and stream?

Gun mkt isn’t great right now. Lots of guns you’re able to buy well below MSRP.
And those ugly Russian surplus are expensive now because Biden stopped all surplus imports

Drive bys are increasing so AK demand is up.

Unless you like shooting some 3rd world manufactured steel casings, you're not gonna like the ammo price here either.

Do you even Russia import ban?

Gun prices have been high the last 2-3 years. Gunbroker is no longer a “buyers market” since they started charging taxes and fees. Several years ago you could by a firearm for $500 and only for $25-$40 in additional shipping fees.

You can still get hellatious deals. You just can't use Gunbroker. They're basically all just gun shops ripping off consumers. Almost as bad as gun show fudds now.
You cruise reddit and this boards deals thread and you'll find crazy great deals. Gun prices are actually still pretty low compared to ammo/reloading and everything else that has skyrocketed the laat 4-5 yrs.
You can find DDM4v7s now for like 1200. That's insane. That's a $1800-2K rifle not long ago at all.
Also tons of deals in polymer pistols.
But if you chase internet clout like lever actions, revolvers, AKs, HKs, etc. You're going to get obliterated.
The biggest problem is YT guntubers are desparate for content so they look under every rock for old cool guns and end up exposing and inflating platforms that used to be cheap and unkown.
Also, Russian import bans have killed the AK platform values.

AK’s have been more than AR’s for awhile now. It’s due to all the import bans. Surplus market was screwed ever since I’ve been alive and I’m 42. It got really screwed after about 2012.

Wasn't an SKS like $99 at Spillway Sportsman in early 90's. And ammo for it almost cheaper than 22LR? That gun is $500 or more now. I should have bought one then.

Bought a Chinese SKS back in the early 90's for $69.95. Thank Clinton for banning Chinese imports.

1896 Swedish mausers were $30 in the 90's.

Yep every day I kick my own arse for not buying a crate of sks rifles in a Chicom marked box for $600 in the 90’s
Ammo was $2-3. Per 20 rounds back then too.
How the gun store put it… don’t buy that cheap Chinese shite if only I had a crystal ball

I suppose it depends on what firearm models you’re shopping for. I buy/build custom benchrest and hunting rifles …. Kelbly & Borden actions, McMillan & Manners stocks, Lilja - Bartlien - Kreiger Match grade barrel blanks, Jewel & Bix-n-Andy triggers, etc … these component prices have all gone up 30-50% in the last several years.
Defiance actions and McMillan stocks recently sold out to new owners who jacked up the prices and discontinued several model components. McM stocks were once $575 as the same stock today costs $1000.
I guess if someone is looking to buy a basic Ruger 10/22 or a Glock 19 deals can be found.

Precision shooting is very en vogue right now. I'd expect that has a lot to do with it. What was formerly a very niche market has exploded with new buyers and participants, this skyrocketing the prices.
Feels like all niche stuff has exploded, while mass produced, oversaturated platforms has plateaued/dipped.

I remember back in the early 90's, the guy I worked for bought a case of AK's. Don't remember who made them, but at the time I wasn't that interested in guns.

You could buy Russian and Chinese AKs for Like $175 in the late 90s. Ammo was 5cpr for Norinco 7.62x39.
