Serious Question, who could LSU realistically attract for MBB coach

Looking at the top 25 active coaches per CBS, I don’t see us landing any of them. Top 25 current coaches
So you move to tier 2 or 3 and take another chance at a mid major or up and comer. So who are those names??

I’m not sure but they CANNOT be worse than the current situation

Pretty much any of them would be more than happy to come coach LSU for the right price. Just like the players. Coaches are hired help.

Can we stop with the buyouts
Coaches are already well compensated

No one on this board has any clue of what is available to fix MBB.
It will take donors to step up to finance the Mcbuyout, a new coach and NIL for a decent team. Hopefully there is a little money left growing on the trees on campus to make enough of a difference.
I do have faith Verge has been busy behind the scenes getting things ready.

LSU should fire McMahon for just cause.
McMahon: Why am I fired?
LSU: Just cause you're so terrible at coaching.

I honestly have zero faith that he will be gone due to this. The donors have come through BIG TIME for football. I’m not sure how Verge can go back and ask for what it would take for basketball in addition.
It is what it is.
With that said there are 3 calls you have to make in a pretend land that McMahon is fired.
Will Wade 1st. I love him but I don’t think he wants to play second fiddle to football anymore so he will say hell no.
2nd and 3rd phone calls are to Mick Cronin and Eric Musselman.
Do I think we could get either-no but Cronin in particular has been EXTREMELY vocal about the travel issues with playing in the big ten. And Musselman is dealing with the same thing, not having the success that would be expected and doesnt have the gravitas and longevity at USC to be vocal about it.
After that you see what mid major guy goes on a run in the tourney and go from there.
It’s going to take a very unique situation where the coach is pissed off at the AD or situation for us to get an established coach at this point unfortunately.

Beard is making more than twice what McMahon is. Which will end up being a high price tag for a guy who is already sub .500 in conference.

The guy coaching Nebraska is doing a hell of a job.

I think they can, believe it or not LSU has been able to recruit well despite bad coaches over the years. I think if LSU commits some more $ towards NIL, a good coach can turn this program around very quickly.
