OT: The Mother of All Storms is Set to Hit Much Of the Country....

Here in Northwest Louisiana it's projected that we could get an inch or more of ice starting late tonight or early Saturday morning. Compounding the problem is that temps as low as 8 degrees could keep everything frozen for a few days.
Everybody stay safe. Maybe the one thing we could all agree on is a unified prayer that the severity of this storm will not be nearly as bad as currently projected.
PS - In the event that I don't make it, I have set up my incredible Siamese cat with an alter account. I have every confidence that she will be able to continue the excellent content you have all come to know and love.

Anyone in the ice zone needs to take this seriously. Back in 09 we got an ice storm like this. Power was out for weeks. Trees were literally exploring. Power lines down everywhere you looked.
It was on par with a category 5 hurricane in its damage.
Prayers up that this isn't as severe as that was.

Shut up, loser.

I'm on central Texas and hope the grid holds up better than it did in 21. I wasn't here for that and somehow wound up in a shite situation anyway in the Richmond VA area. Thankfully I was able to get a hotel room with electricity.

Yeah definitely don't park next to a tree. The ice storm I experienced in VA in 21 was pretty crazy. Full grown trees were snapping and falling into the highway.

Trees that don't evolve experiencing regular ice like that can literally explode outward from the trunk when the ice gets thick. It sounded like bombs going off around the city of Fayetteville back in 09.

Your governor just said he expects the power grid to hold up in Texas. Hopefully, he's right.
Our governor is still busy helping Lane Kiffin land the #1 portal class.

Climate change is 100% fact
It’s also 100% fact that almost all of it is dude to heating from plate tectonics and heating of the ocean floor.
Dems are morons.

Actually, I've found just the opposite to be true. I was always a dog lover, but we inherited this cat from my Dad. She's incrediblyaffectionate. I looked it up, and some people say Siamese cats are the friendliest of all 131 breeds. They are sometimes referred to as the "Dog of cats."
I know. TMI

We've added 17GW of power since then. Most of it renewable sources and batteries. If there is going to be a problem it's going to be a fuel transport issue. There are some risks with the gas not making it to the generation plants. That's the most likely point of failure.

We had 8” of snow here last year and the temp went down to7. How will this be worse? More precipitation? Winds?
