True, but we are being told to give out packets in case of outages.

well if we learned anything from Covid, its that virtual learning is every bit as effective as in class instruction.
Does any student in EBR ever have to go to class for a full month anymore? I'm talking a full 20 weekdays of the month.

color me shocked.
I'm assuming you think the kids should go to school Monday? What's the worst that happens? The kids get a day off of school? I can think of much worst possibilities if they don't close schools.

Yes, I think the schools should be open. I also think, given current forecasts, that this system will spare the BR metro the worst of the effects. I also believe the schools are far too quick to pull the trigger on closures. As for the extra day off, I think its a disservice to the students. They were closed Monday for MLK day. They will be closed in a couple of weeks for Carnival season. Do they ever have to go to class for a complete month? With no random days off midweek? You know, like they may be expected to do if they are employed as adults?

This common sense thinking will not be tolerated by the public schools and the low IQ people of Louisiana!

Everyone calm down. The only thing we are 100% sure of is crawfish prices will go up due to the "WINTER APOCALYPSE" that will spot target only the crawfish farms.

Sparing the worse effects doesn't mean things won't be hazardous out there. Last ice storm we had power was out all over Baton Rouge .

Does anyone really "work" in the EBR school system?
Ascension is possibly waiting until Sunday

Ascension Public Schools is closely monitoring the winter weather forecast and actively consulting with local emergency officials as conditions develop. In particular, we are watching for potential icy road conditions that could impact travel safety across Ascension Parish early next week.
If a decision is made to modify school operations, families will be notified no later than Sunday afternoon, Jan. 25, 2026.
For official updates and decisions, please continue to monitor our website at AscensionSchools.org

yeah, thats pretty much exactly what that means. And there are always hazards out there. Thats all part of educating the children. Teaching them to get up and go, even when its cold and scary outside.
