Until something is done about it, nothing matters.

I hope someone is filing an ethics complaint - clearly should have recused for conflict of interest

The threshold for disbarring anyone is really freaking high. Probably every lawyer at the ACLU would be disbarred if making anti-ice posts was the line in the sand.

I don't know. This is pretty severe. It might get a strongly worded letter on letterhead.

Well, that’s not the line in the sand. The line in the sand is the blatant conflict of interest in his personal affairs, a line that a federal judge Knows but willing violated. He should have recused himself or at the very least notified the court of his lack of impartiality.

Even that doesn't get anyone disbarred. That happens a lot. There is a long list of this happening with the SCOTUS. You go before an ethics board and get a slap on the wrist if that. If it becomes a documented pattern and it is egregious, then...maybe then, they start discussing anyone being disbarred.

Making disparaging remarks about law enforcement probably doesn't amount to something that should get a person disbarred generally, however, a federal judge violating rules on conflicts absolutely should result in at minimum them being removed from the bench.
