Per Grok: Grier's biographies consistently describe her childhood in Denver, Colorado (where she attended East High School), with time spent on her grandparents' farm in Wyoming and brief stints abroad due to her father's Air Force career. Some sources note early memories of discrimination in Columbus, Ohio, but her primary upbringing and schooling were in Denver after the family settled there around 1958. This discrepancy, combined with the lack of historical evidence for lynchings in Ohio during her lifetime, suggests her story is inaccurate—whether due to misremembering, exaggeration, or fabrication.

Nice try, Pam.

Haven’t heard her name mentioned in decades. Surprised she’s still alive.

With this being maybe one of the most brain scarring moments in her life, isn’t it funny that she never mentioned it in her 2010 memoir - "Foxy: My Life in Three Acts"

I actually read serious comments on various social media saying that she could have seen lynchings in the 1950s or 60s in the middle of the road in Ohio that somehow the rest of humanity did not see. We were instructed to watch XYZ movies for proof.

Can't be. Whoopi would have won so many, she finally could retire... cause she said she is poor.

Fact check: she specifically claimed this occurred in Columbus, OH.

There are no records anywhere than any person, white or black, was ever lynched in Franklin County, Ohio. Let alone in the 1950s.

She wasn't even born yet for the last lynching in LA which was in the early 1940's in Hackberry, LA. This was in Louisiana history books in the 1960's
