What’s a better one at a NC game?

ETA: obviously post award. Just a moment where you can acknowledge we get the right person as the heisman winner

While he wasn't the Heisman winner that season, Vince Young's play to win the NC in 2005 NC was, IMO, bigger considering the context:

1. That USC team was better than this Miami team
2. Young scored with 19 second left in the game. Mendoza's run happened with 9:00 left in the game
3. Indiana was leading when Mendoza scored. The TD just made it a 10 point lead. While it proved to be the winning margin, there was still a lot of football left. Contrast that with Young. Texas was LOSING by 5 facing 4th & 5. If Young doesn't get the first down the game is over. Texas loses. Even if Mendoza wouldn't have scored, Indiana would still be in the lead with over half of the 4th quarter left to play.

It was a GREAT effort to score. One that will be talked about for a long time. But if we are having the best ever moment, Young's is bigger.

Are we talking about a single play?

Devonta Smith went for 200+ & 3 TDs in their natty vs Ohio State.

Derrick Henry did about the same as a RB in 2015

Cam Newton? Jameis Winston? Joe Burrow?

Heisma moments are before winning the award.

Agreed. Heisman is a regular season award. If anything, Mendoza's run is an all-time "this is why he won the Heisman" bowl moment.

Yeah don’t disagree with Vince but as mentioned he wasn’t the heisman.

Others have had great games. And not arguing this was the best. I’m just looking for other meaningful plays when it mattered most from a heisman. Not all heismans win a NC so it’s pretty narrow. And some games are not competitive so individual efforts on a specific play aren’t always the deciding factor.

As much as it pains me to say this, Jameis Winston put FSU on his back and ripped the National Championship trophy away from Auburn in that 2013 Rose Bowl. He was particularly clutch on that last minute drive down the field.

We just overlook it because...Jameis. Yet we continue to lionize Vince Young even though he's an even bigger moron.

It’s going in every CFB montage until the end of time, however people want to describe that is up to them. Legendary.

Cam actually had a mediocre game in the 2010 natty.

I wouldn’t put these two together at all.

Vince young couldn’t even do a no show job at UT correctly. I think Jameis legitimately gives it his all on and off the field. He seem actually likable in real life. Maybe over energetic, but he seems genuine and pretty nice.
