I cannot understand why some think he has hope. To me he was never very bright.
----
Comedians Bill Maher and Dana Carvey criticized far-left celebrities and elitists on Monday for lecturing everyday Americans about how they should vote. Maher argued on the “Club Random Podcast” that Americans were turned off by millionaire elitists telling them to vote for former Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election. Carvey added that the celebrities’ constant talks about politics hurt the Democrats since their commentary was a turnoff to the everyday American.

[Celebrities] just make it worse. They just make it worse, celebrities do, when they speak and they’re almost always on one side of the political divide,” Maher said. “And that’s basically the side that I vote for. You know, as I always say to my woke friends, we voted for the same person, you’re just why [former Vice President Kamala Harris] lost. I could gather, and I think I will because it will be funny, just the incredibly stupid things that celebrities say about politics or finance or something. So then if you’re the person out there going, ‘how could you live on $100 million a year. Vote Kamala Harris!’ It’s like, that’s game over.”

Celebs as artists will almost exclusively tilt Lib. Not hard Lefty, but there are many in that camp. A good portion are lemmings, just following the hive mind & could not describe their position unless a team of writers handed them a script.

So... he shares a desired outcome with these goons, he's just salty that they said all the quiet shite out loud and "turned off the everyday American".

That's pretty shitty.

He just doesn’t realize the D’s are the new communist and Rs are the old D’s. The old Rs are long gone. Moderates are the new right wing extremists.

He’s not wrong to a certain extent. Hollywood acting like they’re some sort of source of truth or morality to push a political candidate (which is always a democrat), it drives a sentiment that lacks authenticity. They play make-believe to make an exorbitant about of money. It’s a walking contradiction. The democrat party may benefit from them shutting the frick up or turning the heat down a few notches.

Won’t happen because of their egotistical nature and the fact that the majority of democratic policies hurt the moderate American public. Sadly most moderates don’t realize this until after the fact, and they vote Republican the following cycle. Rinse, repeat.

It's amusing to me how he seems to so clearly see the problem, but still votes for it.

At the point where you know who/what you are voting for is worse for you than the other candidate but you still vote for them because of party, that's therapy-worthy self-destructiveness.

Maher is slightly above a lightweight when it comes to the matter of politics and what's really going on in the country.

Hell, he said his 2 big issues in 2024 were 1) "Democracy" and 2) The environment. Democracy? He has watched Donald Trump get witch-hunted for a decade (Trump/Russia, the Weissmann/Mueller hoax, 2 impeachment trials, a stolen election, an FBI raid on Mar-A-Lago, bogus indictments, etc. Yet, the idiot claims that Trump is the threat to democracy.).

Maher is a couple of notches above somebody like a daffy Julia Roberts, but he's not even close to being a quality political analyst.

I don't think Maher is woke. I think he is classic liberal like from the Clinton age. His values align mainly with modern conservatism except from a few key talking points (religion, abortion). I think maher honestly sees that he is standing still and the left is sprinting away from his position and I think this is why he has become so vocal about it now.

How is anything in that quote “woke?”

Is it because he’s a democrat?

If so, you’re really stretching the meaning of woke, and on a refrain that Maher has been repeating for over a year now.

You guys can be just as bad as the libs with your ideological purity sometimes.

Maher can't get over the hump because then his arrogant, know-it-all arse will have to admit he was wrong... for years now. So, never going to happen. Plus, he would have completely alienated his core base of viewers and fans if he publicy get's too red pilled.

He’s just trying to crawl back into the good graces of the Dims. They weren’t happy with him telling the truth about things a few times out loud.
