Denmark could make the Nazis blush. They sterilized the women of Greenland.

More than 350 Greenlandic Indigenous women and girls, including some 12 years old and younger, reported that they were forcibly given contraception by Danish health authorities in cases that date back to the 1960s, according to an independent investigation's findings released Tuesday.
The Inuit victims, many of them teenagers at the time, were either fitted with intrauterine contraceptive devices, known as IUDs or coils, or given a hormonal birth control injection. They were not told details about the procedure, or did not give their consent.
The victims described traumatic experiences that left some with physical side effects, ranging from pain and bleeding to serious infections.

You should read up on the Tuskegee Experiment.

I’m not sure you meant “sterilized.”
Still repugnant, if true.

In the United States, women with epilepsy were explicitly targeted for forced sterilization during the 20th century, particularly between the 1920s and the 1970s, as part of a broader eugenics movement aimed at preventing "unfit" individuals from reproducing.
quote:
Buck v. Bell (1927): The Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of Virginia’s forced sterilization law, a decision that paved the way for tens of thousands of forced procedures across the country. Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes famously stated, "Three generations of imbeciles are enough".
"Epileptic Colonies": Institutions like the Virginia State Colony for Epileptics and Feebleminded (now the Central Virginia Training Center) in Lynchburg, Virginia, performed thousands of these surgeries.
Duration: While the peak was in the 1930s, compulsory sterilizations continued in some states until the 1970s, with Virginia formally repealing its law in 1974, though some procedures continued until 1979

While that was beyond reprehensible... nobody infected the men with syphilis. You know that, right?

Orange needs to be shouting about this from the rooftops.

They only recently made a half-assed apology about it while still treating the people of Greenland like dirt.

You should read about things that we did to the indigenous populations here. I don’t know that this would be very good advice.

If their defense is whataboutism they're in a weak position.

Is this your attempt to convince people we should forcibly take over Greenland? If so it's absurd to justify taking over a country for actions they took 60 years ago
Forced sterilization occurred in the United States as well...
"Three generations of imbeciles are enough" Buck v. Bell (1927)

No, he probably shouldn't, since the US did the same thing to many more of its own citizens even more recently in history.

I kind of shows you how civilized the world is.
They have 58,000 people, may countries could go there and take it over.

Yes, I know that. Most people who have studied the Tuskegee Experiment know this. What is probably worse is not telling the subjects that they had syphilis, allowing the men to pass this on to women. Also, 19 children were born with congenital syphilis. But I'm sure that you know that, right?
The fact that people were allowed to be observed like lab rats, instead of treating them does indeed make this reprehensible. There is no argumentative victory to take from this because "nobody infected the men..."
19 children, for god's sake.
