Former Tigers you didn’t think would make it in the league

Omar Speights definitely one for me. Happy to see him doing well. Danny McCray is another one that comes to mind.

Same.
I thought the injuries did him in.
Glad he got it together

Taylor had NFL written all over him from day 1.

How can Speights be such a solid NFL LB? He was terrible at LSU. Was he that poorly coached here???

Russell Shepherd and Russell Gage. Neither were NFL stars but stuck around a good bit.

I listed McCray in the other thread. He and Wade Richey were considered bad at their jobs. They weren’t good. And both of them had a pretty average NFL career.

Does not compute.

James Wright should be at the top of everyone’s list. Couldn’t have had a season with over 300 yards at LSU yet played several years in the league.

He did a lot of covering which made him seem less aggressive to us. And the NFL loves that.
Even with that he averaged about 7 tackles a game. He had a tendency to run around blocks too much, but he was pretty good at doing it.

Speights was absolutely horrible for LSU. Never forget that play against ATM where that random blocking TE who had probably never even scored before stiff armed him 3 separate times on a 50 yard catch and run TD.

Fricking Danielle Hunter had 4.5 sacks in 3 years at LSU. Now he’s a perennial NFL Pro Bowler
Also Donte Jackson has done pretty well for himself

Austin Deculas. Really surprised he’s lasted as long as he has.

Al Woods or James Wright should be the answer. Gage is another good one. Shepard isn't surprising due to his willingness to compete, not complain and his natural gifts. He was just an athlete that had no natural position.

James Wright had 0 catches his senior and got drafted. Always thought that was wild.
